Using a stuffed coyote mount for a decoy

Someone I know has an older coyote life size full body mount that was just sitting in a closet, collecting dust.

Do you guys think that if I used this as a decoy (staring towards my Foxpro), it would trigger some competition from a yote that might otherwise hang up in the brush, watching my caller??

I think it might take even more of my precense away, teamed with my remote Fx3.

only thing is it might be a [beeep] to pack around, and over time might get beat up and broken

comments? Very Happy

i'm sure it will catch the coyotes attention i used a cardboard coyote decoy this year during breeding season and it worked great
right now with dens yours will be a big help too.
once a coyote trains his eyes on it you should be able to move undetected. they kind of got tunnel vision with a card board coyote so a mount will work the same.
i would use it mainly during breeding season and not when pups are first on thair own pups and young coyotes may be intimadated.
summer coyotes will go nuts over it if you get into the core area.

i have an old coyote mount that I have used with mixed results. You will have to be careful with it as it want take rough treatment. I had a bobcat sit down out about 250 yards staring at the coyote decoy while I missed him 3 times with a 25-06. He couldn't take his eyes off the yote.

Seems like too much work to lug around a full mount. I would stick with the usual decoys and avoid possibly intimidating smaller responders.

lonedog: That is funny. You had that cat mezmorized. Three shots? Did he finally skedaddle after the third? That must have been fun to see.

The third shot threw dirt on the cat and it took off. That was a long time ago when I hadn't been hunting predators very long. I was so excited I couldn't have hit an elephant.
