Using a suppressor in other states?

I have been told by a friend that if I leave my home state with my suppressor and take it to another state, I am suppose to send a letter to someone (BATFE?) letting them know. Is this true, or are there other things I need to do to legally transport and use the suppressor in another state, say AZ for example.

if you have any questions regarding state to state transport of NFA items, contact the BATFE directly.

contrary to popular belief, they really are there to help you if you need clarification on stuff.

that said, reddog is correct AFAIK - suppressors don't need to file paperwork (Form 20) to cross state lines. Just make sure you're aware of the legal ownership regulations surrounding their posession on the state you're traveling to and through so you dont get into any grief on the way there, or once you arrive at your destination.
