Using Lightning Jack

Ok guys I know alot of you swear by this sound and say it is one of the best that Foxpro has to offer. My question is for those of you where no jack rabbits are present. Does this sound work as well in places that dont have populations of jack rabbits? Im thinking that the coyote probably dont care and will respond to it being that it is a distress sound but im not sure. What are your thought and opinions on it? Thanks, Josh

Coyotes can't reason! They don't know it's a jackrabbit, the lower pitch scream means a larger meal.Jack sounds appeal to ALL coyotes anywhere in the country.

I've played Lightning Jack on atleast 20 stands and not called in a single coyote, and I have jackrabbits where I live... Called in plenty with hand calls and other sounds though...

Lightning Jack would work well anywhere in the country, and sure does work well here in Oregon. I'll bet it would be a "killer" in Africa, just ask Todd and Jeff from Predator Pursuits.

I talked with the owner of Allpredatorcalls. AP Jones is walking encyclopedia about predator calls. He has tried every call in every imaginable circumstance (or so it seems).

AP Jones says that the type of animal making the distress does NOT need to be indigenous to the area. A couple of examples:

When he was calling in the deserts of Arizona he found the snowshoe hare distress to be one of the most effective even though the snowshoe hare has not inhabited that region for over 1000 years (according to him).

Fawn distress. He has a particular whitetail fawn distress that he likes and has used it to call predators in areas that are mule deer only. He found they responded better to the Whitetail than they did a Mulie distress because that particular Whitetail distress was a better quality recording.

According to him the quality of the recording is the joker in the deck when it comes to distress calls.

I have had good success with the Lightning Jack.

Lightning Jack is a great sound and is pretty loud. I don't usually turn the volume over 20 when using it.

I tend to use it more on windy days because it seems to buck the wind very well.. I can admittedly(sp) say I can play the whole recording in my head by memory haha..

I have killed 100+ dogs with the sound. it works.

Well I made three stands this morning with lightning jack and didnt see a thing but 11 deer. One of which was a big 10 point. I was hunting conservation land and everywhere I wanted to call there were people bow hunting. I bet there was close to 40 trucks on this peice of land. Could of been a good reason why I didnt call any in. To much pressure from bow hunters. Oh well ill get back after it tonight or in the morning.

Another great Foxpro sound is Prairie Dog Distress. It has a bunch of different sounds and pitches to it. It has been working great for me and we don't have any prairie dogs within hundreds of miles of here.

No Jack rabbits here in Australia although we do have the European hare but have still had plenty of results with the Lightning Jack and Snow shoe sounds when calling Red Fox.

I've called quite a few critters here in ky with jack rabbit sound from foxpro. Waning jack and lil jack , but not much success with lightning jack. I think it sounds good just not much luck
