Well I just found out I drew my first turkey tag today!!! It's only took 6 yrs. but better later than never!!! Time to start learning how to call.

Congrats, I drew my tag last year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif. I really didnt think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. I just thought those easterners were a little crazy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. It was a blast I ended up not killing one but the experience was great. I got ruined on opening morning and seen a pig. He had a 10"+ beard. I called him in four different times but never got a shot for numerous reasons /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif. I finally decided to not be so picky and it snowed the last two days and couldnt find a turkey to save my life /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. It was one of the best hunts I have had in my life.

Congratulations! I gave up on trying for tags or even buying a hunting license in Utah. I can hunt coyotes and red fox without it. Too bad I can't transfer all my preference and bonus points I've accumulated over the years.

Weas you gave up to early. This year was the year to put in. They are basicaly giving out tags left and right. I know the frustration though I have 10 points for mountain lion and all my buddies had 3 or 4 when they drew /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif.

hey rocky ford, do you know what area yet. They've taking the money off my card but i'm not sure what area i drew. It is also my first turkey tag. I put in for monroe, central & northern. I'm hoping i drew a central. When is the time to start scouting. I've never hunted turkeys but i've called in a few up butterfield canyon. I will probably hunt that area.

No I'm not sure but hopefully its the early fishlake if not its the late fishlake or early monroe. I have no idea where butterfield canyon is. But congrats and have a good hunt.

Wow....sure am glad I live in Texas. They give me 4 every year with my license. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Im with mike I live in Missouri and i get two tags every spring and two in fall. Toms only in spring and either sex in fall. That having to be drawn for tags would drice me nuts.

Yeah it's kind of wierd for Turkeys but I think the main reason is because Turkeys haven't been in Utah very long but recently the populations have exploded so they are giving out more tags.
