v-max vs. winchester ballistic silvertips

I load the nosler ballistic tips for 223 and 22-250 and really like them. I think federal also load the ballistic tips minus the winchester coating.

Vmax and NBTs while similar are not the same. In the past when shooting varmint weights, the NBT seemed more consistant on damage.

The crap they coat those winny brand with will really fowl up a barrel over time, unless you really scrub a barrel.

I use the 55 gr CT Ballistic Slivertips in my AR. For me, they are the most consistant I have found. The coating, Lubolux, does not foul up my barrel.

Nosler all the way! I reload them for all but two of my rifles. I do reload the VMax for my 22 Hornet only because the Noslers are too long to fit in my mag, and for my Rem 243 because the Sierra 85gr HP just shoots toooooo sweet to change. Nosler bullets are GREAT!

I meant to say the Balistic silver tips are just a Nosler BT. Between the two, I like the VMax much more.

You put 100 rds down the tube in a seating, you Will be cleaning. Nosler ballistip tip is the same thing, about 10.00 cheaper and less fouling. The Nosler is constructed a little heavier in the rear of the bullet vs. the Hornady.

Shoot enough it will.

I've been reloading them for about 4 years and probably have shot 1K through my RRA PP. My groups have remained constant. I guess everybody has their on!!

I don't shoot a .223, but have a .22-250 I've been shooting the 55gr. silvertips, the coyotes and red foxes don't seem to say anything when hit. I have the nosler BT in 55 grain also, they are fine, just haven't shot a lot of them. I tend to stay with what works. Everybody has their set ways about what works. the Silvertips have no trouble putting down deer in the .243 95gr either. They have many to their credit, finally was able to retain a bullet this last fall on a deer. Bullet looks good will want to weigh it and see how much fell away.

Silvertips/ballistic tips are the same are are a tougher constructed bullet vs the v-max there is a cross section pic of the 2 bullets floating around the net somewhere just can't find them, I doubt you would be able to tell much difference on animals but the noslers have been very accurate for me but the v-max are ususally cheaper.
