Very similar POWDER

I used some AA2460 for the 1st time today in some 30-06 rounds. It reminded me of my GO-TO powder for my .204, which is Ramshot X-Terminator. Does anyone know how similar these 2 powders are? I looked in my manuals and it seems the performance is very comparable! I just might have to give the AA2460 a try in my good ole' 204! I have been very pleased with the X-Terminator in my 204.

AA2460 IS very similar to the burn rate/performance (consult a comprehensive Powder Burn Rate Chart) of Ramshot Xterminator, and both of those are very close to AA2230.

AND, AA2230,AA2460, and Ramshot Xterminator are all very close to Winchester 748.

Those 4 powders are generally the BEST 4 for the .223 Remington for both speed and accuracy; why? ....They are all close to each other on a burning rate chart i.e. they have similar performance characteristics!

Of course, there are still more excellent powders for the .223 and the .204.

BUT, if your local gun shop is out of one, buy one of the other ones and develop a new, practical working load and go hunting (and save $$ by not having to pay a $25.00 mail order HazMat fee).

You will likely be able to later develop an accuracy load - without much trouble - that is equal to/better than your previous powder of the 4.

I have used 3 of the 4.

AA2460 is very similar to 4895. Very similar.

I can't help you with the XT comparison, as TAC is the only Ramshot powder I am familiar with.....

Yes, it is, but all is relative to...the burning rate chart...all 5 are relatively close.

As I said, many other excellent powders for the .223; I have used IMR 4895 also in the .223. And, VV133 is good...and R-7.

I know 1 thing for sure ... I will be loading some AA2460 for my .204 in the near future! Curious to see if there will be a difference in accuracy out of it. Like the Ramshot X-Terminator, it meters rather well!
