Videos best and better

Well we had two days of constant rain, so had a few neighbours around to plan the next months hunt. I decided to use the days by running a few tapes and get a vote. We had Lohmans challenge 1 & 2, B South two set, Predator Persuit, Arizona P Callers video, a double set of Anderson, Johnny Stewart video and a DVD of Jay Net.

We decided to rate them in terms of showing the set ups, guys calling, honesty and misses, discussion, and general quality.

We had a group of 9 people, I excluded myself from the results as this would give me a genuine report on the feeling. Everybody rated Anderson as by far the best,on all aspects without any doubt. Second was Lohman and the best for an in depth look at coyotes and behaviour and discussion went to Stewart and Jay. For fast action, bonding with the viewer and fun went to BS. Arizonas Frec Cronk was informative and in depth. The other videos were rated as totally boring with no views of callers etc, you just hear sounds and back ground music constantly.

By far the best was Anderson, but not forgetting J Stewart for an in depth discussion on hunting and methods.

Rating given by 9 people was ; The score was out of 10.

Anderson *********
J Stewart*******
Lohman *****
B South *****
Jay *****
Arizona ****
Persuit **

How does this compare with other viewers, what say you?
Some are videos and some are DVD format.

I think it really depends on what type of video you want and where you are in your calling experience. I have been calling for many years, and dont care to listen to people blab on for hours. It can be really boring. I think Randy Anderson makes good videos that beginning callers would really enjoy. But I would rather have a video that has a lot of hunting, running shots, and a mix of animals. I havent seen all of the videos you listed, but most of them.

1. Predator Pursuit
2. Byron South
3. Jay Nist.
4. Operation Predator
5. Lohmans

let me put it this way I have never made it through a randy anderson video without falling to sleep.I'm not saying I don't like them, but they too long! I have never fallen to sleep during the others mentioned!
never watched lohmans or cronks!

Ditto what Guess said, I find the anderson vids to be at the bottom of the list. To much goof-ball antics, and silly commentary for my taste, but hey, he is probably the leader in predator hunting video sales, so evidently, someone is buying the damned things?
I lean more towards those of Byrons,Jays' and Geralds, so I am either entertained watching guys who know how to hunt demonstrate it, or show and describe coyotes and their behavior with empirical footage and opinions.

My 1st video ever seen was "Calling All Coyotes". Randy, presented a very good tutorial for a[newguy-caller]on how to use different hand calls.

My only interest in any of the one's I've watched. Was how to use hand calls.

I've watched quite a few since then [loaned to me from a neighbor]. One, I wouldn't take for free.

Its all about demographics. I'm a Byron South man with the Predator Persuit a close second. Things from Texas Rule!

my vote for a begginer from around here would be brent saxtons calling in the east back to basics. next would be byrons hunting in the thick stuff. but I look at both videos and they both are #1 in my book. I have watched hunting the night shift. witch is the best thing a predator hunter that is going to hunt at night can watch for guidence. then I have also seen up close and personal. I love it because this is the only video that I have watched that has had a lot of coyote language that you can lern from. I have watched it many times and keep learning from it. the same with the above mentioned. I watch them pretty regular and I allways say man I am gonna haft ta try that next time. I have not watched any of Randy Anderson videos but have met him in person. I seen some of the footage that will be in his next video and I loved it. he had a little bit of comic relief just like rich higgins had in his video and it shows that hunting predators does not have to be a serious effort. just go out and have fun and who cares if you screw up a hunt or two because you were not set up right.

I got several videos most of em are anderson, and yes after a while it puts you to sleep. After reading this I got South's 2nd movie and really enjoyed it. I cant say that I've ever watched a hunting flick that I didnt like though. I mean I could be watching Desprate housewifes with my bride. It makes her happy but dang it those people have got some problems.
I will be getting more of South's video's before I get anyothers!
Mike
