i recently bought some n 133 powder and was wondering if any one has had any luck with it under 69gr and hevier bullets. i usually shoot 69gr match kings in my one in nine twist model 700 vtr.

Info only - I've been told by a few friends that N133 & N135 are very popular within the Benchrest community for use in their Benchrest rifles. The stuff is supposed very consistent and is the best in that environment and their use of the 69 - 80gr bullet weight group. Really haven't heard of anyone using it for hunting purposes though.

what caliber? 223 I assume? N133 is way too fast for 69's, but it'll spit out the 40's and 50's at blazing speeds with accuracy. Try 25gr varget with your 69's.

Sierra lists 22.8grs as max for the 69gr. bullet in the .223 Rem - a velocity of 2800fps. Vihtavuori also lists 22.8 as max with a velocity of 2844fps. I have fired many thousands of rounds loaded with the 69gr. Matchking and 22.5grs of VV-N133. It is VERY clean and produces an SD in the low single digits.

I use it with 60gr Sierra bullets and it performs great and I would think it would be a good choice for the 69gr as well.As John said very clean burning.

thanks guys, i usually use 24.5 grs of varget with the 69 gr matchkings shoots extremely well and i really have no reason to switch to the n 133 other than playing around. Thanks again.

Maybe that vita-va-hoo-hoo stuff is worth the extra $8 something a pound? I was ready to try some once and fork over the $44.00 for a 2Lb container of N140 (for .243) then the salesman brought out a 1Lb container with a price of $29.00. Sounds kind of like funny math to me. I said no thanks.I dont mean to sound so tight I squeak, but is it really that much better? Most powders I have been trying are $19-$20 range.

I noticed at Bass Pro in Memphis that Benchmark is now retailing for $28 per pound.

John Glad you liked that. I do that sometimes when I have no clue as to how to properly pronounce something.I`m going to try some Benchmark in .223, a friend (Gitty2)left some here.

N133 is an excellent powder in the 223. It makes a 50 gr. bullet sing. It also works good with a 65 gr. Sierra GameKing. I think you will like it.
