First to thank Mike at CS TATICAL. If you have any scope questions talk to him. I own NF, Leupy, Burris and US Optics. Had easy choice on high end pain in the butt on Mid price.
To start off scope is going on a pistol(300WSM). Strickly for a up to 500yd hunting gun. So my first concern was with eyerelief. 4-4.5" is the least you want. The second concern was size and weight. Third was price wanted to stay $500.00 and down. I was looking at a PST told Mike my concerns for what I was doing he suggested HS.
Ok enough of that. On to my thoughts. Pulled scope out of box it was packed good like every other scope. Looked thru scope notice eyereliefe was better than expected and so was clearity. Got pluses there. Next thing turnning of knobs nice clicks and feel. These are coverd knobs wanted this for hunting. Neat aspect on knobs you just pull them up and rotate to zero.
The scope is mounted on a EGW 20 MOA mount and Burris XRT rings. Bore sight scope and off to range. Scope has Dead Hold Retical. The gun is a XP100 300 WSM first shot for me with both.
First shot I was hoping everything would hold togeather. Gun shot 3" high and 2" right. Made adjustments and next shot was very close to bullseye. Moved to other target shot 3 shot group all touching. So on to 200 yd view thru glass was very good. Scope glass equal to Leupy VX2. Put dot on 200 yds and was 3/4" low not bad for a ballistic retical. Now to 300 yds view thru scope was better than expected. Rounds hit about 1.5" low still happy. That is as far as I got day light leaves to early this time of year.
Conclusion for a sub $400.00 scope it is better than average. I have a total of 15 hot 300WSM rounds thru it but I still like it a lot.
Is in line with NF or Mark 4s NO. Is it a good scope for hunting YES. Only complaint and this was from a pistol guy. When you get to 10 power eyerelief gets close. Like every other scope with a Ballist retical. Upper power is where you have to use it. I would say on a rifle no problem.
