Vortex Binoculars

I would like to know if anyone uses Vortex Binoculars and how they perform. What is their clarity like and low light performance. How long have people had them for and have they stood up well or not.

I am looking at a set of Hurricane 10 x 28. Can anyone recommed any other brands of similar price?

Thanks

While I don't own or have any field experience with the Vortex optics, I looked at several while at the NRA meeting in St Louis last year.

I was very impressed with their clarity and low light transmission. The convention center is pretty large and in the exhibition hall, I was able to see paint runs/discolorations on the pipes at the other end of the display area, up near the ceiling where the lighting was pretty subdued compared to the floor area. The binoculars were lighter weight than what I carry now.

I'm currently considering one of their rifle scopes. I wish I have gone ahead and purchased one of their scopes then, as the 'show price' would have saved me some money.

Thanks OldTurtle,

They appear very popular with bird watches. I would have to purchase a set without being able to handle them. The reason for the question

I have the Vipers and could not be happier. I bought them over the Internet, with a 30 day trial period. I have 8 x 42, and see alot more than I did with the cheap 10 power I have. Considering the price they're awesome. Not considering the price they're a great binocular. One caveat is my words only apply to the Vipers, I have zero experience with other models.

This is probably no help at all but I just bought the Vortex CBX carbon fiber tripod to hold my Swarovski 80mm spotting scope. The quality and fit and finish is A++. Two professional hunting guides I know who use only Swarovski optiks were both extremely impressed with the Vortex binocs and stated that they wouldn't hestitate to by them. They both recomend the 10X42's.

I own a pair of 8x42 vortex sidewinders that were $190. I absolutely love them. I couldn't be happier with mine either. As for clarity and low light, I have only campared them with my buddies Tascos and the vortex are in a far better league. Also keep in mind that the VIP warranty is excellent. I haven't had to use it but I called them about it before I made a purchase. They told me they would fix or replace them for ANY reason. Even if you leave it on your tailgate while driving down the road, they fall off and get ran over a few times. As long as you can get them and send them in they will replace them. He said they have fixed a few pair that had been chewed up by hunting dogs. If you can't tell I definitely recommend them.

I used a pair on a night hunt a month ago. They were pretty good and was way brighter than any other binocs that night, I have a pair of sightron 10X42. They were also nice and small and light. The owner said they're made by swarovski. I don't know if I believe that but they look and perform like them.
