I picked up a vortex crossfire 2 4-12-44 cause that's what fit my budget and it was clearer than Nikon was. I mounted the scope on a 223 heavy barrel with Burris steel rings. at 100yards with 1/4 clicks I can touch 3 holes. very clear and holds zero good.
I also like that the turrets are knobs that don't require a coin or crew driver and are numbered like target turrets so you can mark you numbers for reference at distances. the vortex bdc recital is a little weird, I would rather have had a x hair than bdc but I can deal with it. I also adjusted my turrets for 200yards and back to 100yards and back to 200yards and it zeroes right back to where its supposed to each time. for a budget scope I like it a lot. I would be a little skeptical of using the crossfire on a large bore gun but that's just me. for $160 its a great scope. the x hairs are also not so bad for target and varmints. they also have lifetime warranty that I had to call about and they said send it in back in 5 days. nothing wrong with the scope it was me that goofed.
