Need some insight on the Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50 Tactical. I may be getting one tomorrow for my 22-250 AI. I know they have a good warranty and are good scopes. My question is I want it to be able to range coyotes out to 6-700 without a rangefinder. Is that doable ? What do you guys like and don like about this scope? Thanks....

I would spend the money on a decent rangefinder. At 600 to 700 yards you should have all the time to range them and set up a comfortable shooting position. IMO using the reticle will get you a rough estimation because a coyotes size varies. When your aiming at a small target the more accurate the range the more precise you can be with your shot once you figure out your dope or holdover. Not impossible just impractical.

Ive got one in FFP. I shoot it on a CZ455 22lr in our local PRS style 22lr matches.

Tracking seems a bit off but I haven't played with it too much. Glass is decent for the price. Side focus is kinda touchy.

I'd get a better optic if going to shoot at live targets at that distance and I'd get a laser range finder.

Much better tracking and better glass would be ideal. 500+ on critters is a big step up, for which you need to be properly equipped.

While I cannot speak to the 6-24x, I just bought a 4-12x. Not impressed. Doesn't track reliably, and the field of view is ridiculously small. Also has a lousy reticle. JMO

Why do people buy something and then ask questions or for opinions? Do your research before not after a purchase.

IMO based on personal experience Vortex model scopes below the Razor line suck.

O.P. didn't state that he bought the scope, he stated.."I may be getting one tomorrow".

I have a Viper HST,a Diamondback HP and I would buy them again in a heartbeat. They both track like they should, glass is great, they both hold zero and I have had ZERO issues with them. Happy customer here

It was incredible the amount of returned Vortex scopes I saw when working retail. They certainly allow the customer to be their QC and use that "VIP Warranty" to the max. I will not own another Vortex below the Razor lines either. 4X broken Vortex scopes will sour a guy.

Late then never I guess. Ended up with a Strike Eagle 6-24x50 SFC. A friend of mine had it and needed some $$ got it at a good price I think. Its mounted and zeroed and shot out to 400 yards so far Im liking it. Next scope will be the PST....
