Vortex Viper Scope for AR

I am looking at purchasing a scope for my AR. I am leaning towards the Vortex Viper Series. Any suggestions on magnification, reticle, 1" or 30mm? I do not own any Vortex rifle scopes so this is going to be a new venture. Any suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all you help!

Intended use and range?

The HS and HST series are good, I like the PST series with illuminated reticle.

Power range depends on your intended use.

30mm is all I buy anymore.

The HS or HS-T is about as low on the Vortex scope list as I'd go. IMO, their scopes below the HS or HS-T aren't really worth owning.

The Vortex HS-T 4-16x44 is a reasonably priced scope with, usually, pretty decent optics. My biggest problem with Vortex is their scopes below the Razor line seem to be rather inconsistent, sometimes they're great while others, not so much.

For a light weight scope with real good optics the Vortex HD LH Razor is a good piece. I'm not a real big fan of Vortex scopes but I have three Razor HD LH 3-15x42 and for the money, they're a really nice little scope.

There are so many good scopes out there.

If you buy a Redfield from Brownells you get 2 companies backing a lifetime warranty.

I have the Revolution in 2 x 7. This is an excellent AR15 combo.

It is excellent for the price.

No batteries required.

I can afford a high end scope. For some reason i don't want to buy one though.

That may be a smart plan because once you go down that road, you quickly get spoiled by the high end glass and adjustments and it makes everything else look like crap.

I am using it strictly for coyotes on my AR 223 Remington 24" 1:8.

Hard to beat a Leupold VX-3i in my opinion. I have 4 in 3.5-10, and 2 in 4.5-14. I may try a 2.5-8 on my next bolt gun. I like the 50mm version on ARs since they mount high enough anyway.

I would recommend the vx5hd and I just got a Trijicon AccuPower that I really like. I have the 4-16x50 accupower and I really like this scope.

We need more info, such as budget, intended use of rifle/optic, distances you plan to shoot, do you dial elevation or like holdover reticles?
