vortex vs leupold vs nikon for a 22-250

Ah jeez not this [beeep] again! I can already hear it. "Use the search function newb!" In my defense I read a lot more than I post. I have read reviews on each of these scopes but I would like real world insight from fellow predator hunters. What a guy in Alaska thinks of the scope mounted on his 300 mag for moose doesn't tell me anything except durability.
I have an old skeleton stock Ruger m77 mkII 22-250. Those were either love em or hate em styled rifles and I love em. I carry this rifle with me on the farm every day all year long. I have always disliked coyotes because I've seen the damage they can do to my baby calves and I do my best to kill them whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Right now I have a 1996 vintage leupold vari-x II 3-9x40 scope on this rifle. Its been there forever and shows it both aesthetically and functionally. It seems to have lost its seal asthe picture has become hazy and a bit off color. It needs to come off and go back to leupold.
I am looking to put a scope right back in the rings and would prefer to get one with more magnification. Shots of opportunity here can be anywhere from 50 yards to 500+ yards. Magnification level is a personal preference and I prefer more magnification than even what I have now. I never use anything below 6 power and most of the time it rides on 9.
I am looking at the leupold 4-12x40 ao vx2, the Nikon 5-20x44 monarch, the vortex viper 4-12x40, & the Nikon monarch 4-16x42.
I have two of the leupold 4-12's and get along fine with them. I like the Nikon's 4-fold magnification (I.e. 4 to 16 instead of 4-12) but I don't like that they are made in the Philippines. I don't know jack about vortex but they get good reviews on all the forums so I threw them in the mix.
These scopes are pretty much all +/- $50 from a median price point so what do you think?

Trolling my own post. Guess somebody's gotta be that guy right? Optics planet says vortex is back ordered several months on that particular scope so keep that in mind if you recommend it. The rest are in stock and the 5-20 Nikon is on sale for under $400 from optics planet. I have never held one in my hands so it may be like bolting a brick to my rifle with regards to weight. I don't know.

Just my 2 cents I have used the leupold from my 375 on moose in Alaska to my 17hmr and haven't had one fail either way just love the glass love the durability and like the clarity on high powers I to had read all the reviews on vortex and own two of them both viper series and like them but still prefer my leupolds but that's just the opinion of one guy

Hey Coyote Reaper, I'm in a similar boat as you right now, though my scope will be for a prairie dog gun. Lots of choices, I'm even looking for used. I had pretty much narrowed my choices (for new) down to the 5-20 Monarch from Optics Planet and the Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 (only $279 at Camera Land). Those were with plex reticles (I decided against the Monarch BDC reticle as I've read that the circles are kinda big for pdogs). Then I got some feedback/input on the Burris Fullfield 6-20 with the E1 reticle and that looks really good, I like that reticle and that's priced pretty well, too. So I'm still sorting through it all, trying to make the exact, right purchase. Both Camera Land and OP have good and fair return policies so you can always order and take a look at it and if you don't like it, return it.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.
