W760 powder?

Yes, well kinda, 2 out of 3 loads I've tried with 55gr blitzkings that shot 1" in my Stevens .243. I'm still working on a load for the 80gr rem PSP. When I shot to work up to max, they weren't grouped real well at all but I'll blame that one on the wind and try a couple of different loads here in the next week or so. Your definition of "any luck" may be different but that is good enough for me. It is the only powder I've tried because I also use it for my 30/06. If it continues to work this well, I won't bother to try any others. Ball powders with magnum primers are predictible and I like to keep it simple.

I shot a truck load of shells loaded with 760 with Fed 210's with 55-75g Bullet weights, very fast and accurate.

My accuracy load in more than a couple of Rem 700's has been 44-44.5g of 760 with the 70g-75g bullets, seat the bullets to barely touch the lands for best accuracy.

I'd start off at 40g and go up carefully in powder charge .5g at a time in three shot groups with the 85's.'

Let us know what you find out because the 85g Sierra BTHP is one heck of a bullet.

Yep! The 55g Blitzkings and W760 are a great combination. I still haven't chronographed this load...but it's smokin'.

My son had such a blast vaporizing prairie dogs with this combination, I thought he was going to melt his barrel!

Of course he couldn't see anything[recoil], but the show I got was amazing!

Still haven't connected on a coyote with it though.

Thanks guys, I will be using this with sierra 85g bthp i will work up a couple loads and see how it goes. The only reason I chose this powder is because its all that I can find locally.

I have called hodgdon and confirmed that they are one in the same, but I always suggest to call them yourselves.

Yes it is a good powder for that application.

760 and H414 are indeed the exact same powder with different labels. If I remember right the Winchester is normally a little cheaper. The stuff meters like a champ.

+1

I have a number of rifles that shoot those two powders better than any other powder, so I'll hang in there with them; rifles like several 7x57's, a 250 Savage, and my newly acquired FN Winchester Model 70 in 7-08.

I really appreciate all the input and the call to hodgdon there Aznative I will call them as you suggest. Im just getting into reloading so the help is greatly appreciated.
