I bought a cheap scope for on my marlin XTmr 22magnum. I am hitting center at 50yrds. Once I sit up at 100yrds. I am hitting left right up down anywhere from 3 to 7 inches in all directions easy. I am shooting cci 2200 FPS (22 Magnum CCI Poly-Tip V-Max Varmint 30 Grain 2200 fps) I am useing a rest also. I never cleaned the barrel of the gun. It's brand new gun. I just mounted a scope and grabbed ammo and hit the range. I have never had trouble from 22LR rifles but this mag is missing me up. Any info on what could be. I am taking the scope back because the cap broke the top off also. Could the scope be the problem for bad groups at 100 yrds?

Can't say if it is the gun or scope. The scope is one of those "you get what you pay for" situations though.

Yup they are a crap shoot. Take it back and try another one. My buddy runs one on his .44 mag without trouble and hes rough on stuff. I have a simmone 3-9x32 iv been running for 15years on my .22. Iv dialed it up to 200yds and back dropped the gun several times. Guess i got a good one.

Ruled that out. My sons 22 mag heavy barrel was hitting great at 100 yrds. His rifle is very impressive. At 50 and 100yrds. his is only about 3/4 to an inch different in elevation. Very impressive rifle.

I think the scope was not mounted level with the rifle,if it's off even if you can't really see it the bulet will drift.

I think if it wasnt level hits would drift all in the same direction. 5* is noticible at 500yds. Im leanin towards scope. Have u tried different ammo.

The first time I read it I thought it was saying his elevation was correct but the windage wasn't. If that was the case he would have had to adjust for dead center at 100 when he was center at 50. Then rereading it sounds more like he has a pattern not a group so it must either be a bad scope or mounts loosened up.

cheap scope, plus shooting that distance with rimfire youre not going to get the tightest groups due to consistance of loads, wind, and dirty barrel cant help
