Walmart surprise

I was in our local walmart last night and made my usual jaunt through the hunting section. I looked at some of the muzzleloader supplies and there on the shelf I saw rcbs dies, sierra bullets and remington primers, lr and sr. They had small bullet selection but had 3 of my favorites cals, 243, 6.5 and 308.
When did wally world start carrying reloading supplies?

I figured they would be cheaper, they may drop if they expand to all stores but seems stores are different regionally on what they carry. Primers here range from $100.00-75.00 a brick depending on where you buy them.

Not sure how many WalMarts stocked reloading supplies but there is a wholesaler in my town that used to sell reloading supplies to them. So many that they had a shipping line and employees that handled nothing but WalMart orders.
After several years of doing business with them and stocking huge amounts of supplies to meet the demand of WalMart the bigwigs started telling the wholesaler how they would sell to them and set their pricing for them.
The family that owned the wholesale company decided to tell WalMart to piss off and quit selling to them.
I went to school and am friends with several of the family members and they told me that Wally World bought enough bullets that when they cut ties with them there was a semi trailer parked in their back lot that was full of cases of bullets they used to sell to them.
At one time the local shop had a big sale on a popular 22 caliber Hornady VMax bullets that was half price of any where else. I bought a case of them and wish I had bought more.

Here in central Florida some of our Wal-Marts have the same... I noticed last week they got more powders as well. The primers are still kind of on the high side at $95ish/1K.

I just ordered 5K Rem Large Rifle Magnum primers for $246.43 DELIVERED.

Cedar City, UT Walmart has sold that stuff for years. None in Vegas/Henderson area though. Most don't even sell guns or hunting clothes.

Reloading supplies!? WalMart!? :ROFLMAO: I'm in New York.... we're lucky if they have shotgun shells and .22's. Last time I saw real guns and ammo in a WalMart I was in Montana :ROFLMAO:

Our local super Walmart started selling reloading supplies a few years ago and then stopped, this year I see they are starting to sell it again, possibly due to what 220 Swift posted.

Im in Ky. They started stocking reloading supplies maybe 2 months ago. It was only a few boxes of each cal and a few mainstream powders. Primers are high and they only had large rifle. Most other things are OOS now. They haven't added more

Why is it that I actually believe that out of Wal-Mart???

I don't venture into Walmart often. When I do, it is usually to buy a grandkid something or other. So, I was in there looking for pickleball paddles (because my 15-year-old granddaughter challenged me) and stopped in the sporting goods wing for a look. My local store had four canisters of powder, some primers, and a few boxes of bullets in the common calibers. Prices were high. I will continue to buy my supplies at my local gun shop, where I have been shopping for 40 years.

BTW, pray for me when I go against my three-sport All-Conference and 1st. Team District selection athletic granddaughter when I face off against her on the pickleball court!

Our local Walmart now has a small shelf of reloading stuff. A small selection of bullets, .22, 6mm, 6.5, and .308. A few cans of powder, but nothing I typically use. Remington primers, around $90/K. I did buy a box of one of my favorite .30 cal. bullets, the 150 grain Sierra Gameking. My old Ruger 77 flatbolt .308 loves them!

I noticed the same thing a few weeks ago. Our walmart was just starting to get in some of their reloading stuff.
They had a few jugs of powder and bullets and were waiting on presses trimmers etc.
The guy at the counter I talked to said it was new for them and he wasn't sure if it was going to be an all time thing or just during our hunting seasons that they would be stocking it.
