Planned on getting up early and listening for coyotes Saturday morning prior to checking traps at the plantation, but a camera revealed a catch at another place I’m trapping. Reset alarm for 0600 as I needed to check 2 properties before meeting the manager at the plantation to put up wood duck boxes at 0800.
All worked out and we set out 5 boxes at 4 different ponds. Got done about 0945 and finished setting the burns and got home around 1ish. I got a bite to eat then we planted some mater’s and tater’s along with a few pepper plants.
Got done with all that and after replacing some line on a few reels, off to the pond we went.
The wife had the biggest of the day!
And I ended up with about 15 bream all about the same size on a little Betts Walmart popper, lol.
This morning I got up early and heard three different coyotes!!! Nothing close so no opportunities. You have to guess right because it’s too open to move on any. Waited around until the sky started turning pink waiting to hear a turkey gobble. Heard the first gobble at 0729. Once good and light I checked my sets there at the plantation.
My plan was to take CJ shed hunting later in the day, but once I got home I was informed it was about to rain so I told CJ and Zac to get ready to roll and we’d walk the burns before the rains came.
CJ was the lucky one today finding 2 matches sets!!
I ended up finding one, CJ found another, and Zac found the rest.
The rains came and after it left we went and washed the vehicles. The boys took the other truck back to the plantation to fish and I’m gonna chill the rest of the evening. Had a great weekend, no need to try and make it better, lol!!
