/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Who camo's their rifle while hunting?

What type of camo do you use? Have any tips?

I use White Medical Tape in winter. Sticky enough to stay in place, yet leaves no glue residue when taken off. I can add any pattern with a magic marker.

I just use the archery camo tape. On the rifle that I have used the tape and then taken it off, there was only a little sticky residue which quickly came off with a little soapy water.

The tape is kind of ratting up on my rifle that I use now and the good thing is I like it even better.

I use the lightest pattern cloth tape and tape everything, including the showing part of my .223carbine mags and scope. I even tape my Stoney Point Shooting Stix. Seems to work and I like the feeling of the cloth on my hands instead of the "plastic" of my rifle.

When our local K-Mart was closing I bought a shotgun camo tape kit that was pre-cut pieces that I trimed down to fit my rifle. Last week I peeled them off with no residue what so ever.
I now have it painted with the bowflauge spray on camo paint (I should have gotten the BROWN kit instead of the GREEN). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Just finished camoing my .17 Remington. I wanted something light that would blend in with the sage and desert country around here. It was hard to sand that nice BDL stock but that was the first step, followed by gray primer. Then an application of Rustoleums American Accents Stone creations in the granite rock look was applied. Really liked the look at that point but needed to break it up a bit so got some Liquitex in burnt umber, and baltic green to shoot through the airbrush. This is the final look after some experimentation. At one point it had brown patches on it but I just didn't like the look. Now for that shiny black barrel...

I camo mine especially the stainless stell..I honestly don't think it matters that much...I do it for fun! I've shot plenty of yotes without camo on my gun too!

i just tie on strips of frayed burlap in different colors. kinda like a ghillie suit for my AR.
i like that medical tape idea, thats doing some good break up in the pic. plus being able to draw on it gives endless possiblities.

I cut the sleeves of a old camo t-shirt. My wife sows a seem the same size as the barrel diameter. What is left hanging down . I cut into strips for a gilly effect.

For snow camo try Vet. wrap. That is what they wrap horses legs with. It sticks to itself. you can get it at any feed store and it comes in different color, however I can only see using white and dessert tan. The floresent pink may defeat the purpose. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have a Beartooth kit myself and it looks good but be forewarned. Putting that heavy neopreme cover on your barrel will change your harmonics and what was once your pet load may become an average load. It will also likely change the point of impact as it did on my 25-06.

Here it is! Armalite with new winter coat!

Outstanding job Gunslinger! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looks great. Have you thought about doing your magazine too?

I go with a bigger pattern to match bigger tree's, dark areas, etc.

Idea: Try doing bigger branches. (1" wide)

You can see it blends in very well with suroundings.

---> P.S. If you plan on running a number of rounds thru her, take the tape off the barrel. Once that barrel heats up, ya gotta goo mess.
