Weatherby made in Japan

Hello everyone,

I saw a Weatherby Vanguard in 308 all camo in the "natural gear" camo, made in Japan.

How are the Weatherby's qaulity coming out of Japan. I am curious, because I am really interested in this rifle. Only problem is I dont know who makes scopes in Natural Gear camo to match the all camo rifle.

Thanks,
Wayne

Just put a matt scope on it. It'll look fine.
Besides, critters are color blind, right?

Agreed with Shane and Charlie. The 1500 is a good action. You could always have your scope hydrodipped. Not that much money and tons of places do it...

I own a Vanguard in .243 - it's my favorite rifle! It's comfy to shoot, accurate and the action is smooooooth.

The Sportsman's Warehouse in Ankeny has one of the original Vanguard's (.308 and black synthetic stock)for $350 the last I looked.

The rifle does not come with any glass on it, just the bases.
The rifle looks clean, in that natural gear tan/desert rock color camo.
If I do get it, I plan on putting a Leupold on it.

We will see though. I had a weatherby back in the day, a VGX in 243 and it was sweet on antelope.

Thanks for all the input from everyone.

I have 2 sub moa vangaurds and they shoot really good, and I have a howa 1500 varmint rifle that shoots like a house on fire. I love these guns and will buy more.

You could order a Custom Shop tan finish to match, of desired. But a regular black will have better re-sale, when needed.

Got 5 Howas in my house right now. 4 of mine and 1 my brothers. They all plain shoot!

Also, the use Rem700 bases so LOTS of options out there for mounting optics.

Triggers are also adjustable and you should be able to get to 2 - 2 1/2 lbs without too much hassle.

Good luck with the purchase!

I absolutely love my Howa .308 Varmint with Hogue paired with a Mueller Sport Dot. I have posted groups before but don't remember where. While sighting it in at an indoor range with factory Federal Ammo and had 3 shots touching(it was only 3 shots cause I forgot the other boxes of ammo at home it was my last 3 shots.) I can guarantee it shoots better than me. I have had 3 another .308 in the Howa Police sniper and another in .270 had problems with the .270 Howa Lightning not shooting well but I am pretty sure it was the barska scope. After I sold the rifle (wanted a heavy barrel) I put the barska scope on my 10/22 and it as well wouldn't shoot but would with the cheapo depot remington scope. Which I still had the sporter barrel howa as the .308 varmint is kinda rough to lug around if your walking alot but I am a heavy barrel type.

Yeah...I have no clue why the Howa's would not shoot. I heard great things about them and I am a fairly decent benchrest shooter. Even reloaded for them and tried four types of commercial ammo. Plus I just felt kinda wierd hunting with a Japanese gun for hunting which really makes no sense because I drive a toyota now after my last two chevy trucks. Anyway, I bought a Remington CDL when I sold the Howa's not expecting much but that Remington turned out to outshoot all my Savages. Blew my mind...it is still my favorite gun.

I bought my first Vanguard over 20 years ago. I'm not in love with the fact that it is made in Japan, but truth is, all the Howas and Mirokus I've known have been of excellent quality.......

I have a Howa Axiom in .22-250. I don't use it much any more due to the length and weight, but it sure is a shooter straight out of the box.
