I have been looking for a 20 Gauge youth sized shotgun for my wife. Was thinking about a remington or winchester. We went to a couple gun shops so she could feel them and see what she liked best. Haven't found a winchester in stock yet, but one shop had a couple remingtons and this weatherby. My wife liked the weatherby because it was lighter than the remingtons. I don't know anything about the weatherby. So my question is how reliable are they? Are there any problems with them? and How is the recoil? My concern is that being a lighter gun the recoil may be more than my wife will enjoy shooting. If you have any experience with this shotgun I would love to hear your opinion of it. Thanks.

i am a big fan of just about anything weatherby, with the exception of prices. I bought a 870 express for my nephew and really like it a lot. I ended up keeping it in the youth size so i could carry a small light weight gun if i need to walk a ways into the woods.

It looks very much like the 20ga youth model that Charle Daly used to import. If so I've been shootinga CD version of the youth 20ga for a few years and it has oroved to be a very nice shotgun. I use it everywhere I need to shoot steel shot #4 Blackcloud in it has worked well on pheasant, sharptails and ducks and it is a pleasure to carry. I bought it to replace a 870 Express that I gave to my grand daughter.
