Weatherby vangurad 2 or Tika t3 lite 22-250

Really would like to pick up a light weight bolt gun in 22-250. After hunting this spring in Texas with my AR and walking a lot, I realized just how heavy my hunting rigs are, Any input, likes or dislikes would be appreciated.

If your main criteria is weight the Tikka wins that one, the Vanguards will never be considered light. In my opinion the extra weight is because the Vanguard is better built, but I would probably go Tikka for a light varmint gun. Don't lose the mag, they're $60-70.

the Tikka has a good barrel and a great trigger that is very easy to adjust.
I did not have near the performance with either of my Weatherbys

If you want light and accurate pick Tikka. I bought my Tikka 22-250 for those exact reasons. Pick a scope that is light too, to finish off the package.

I've had two vanguards, one was the new S2 and they have both went down the road with no remorse.

I've had both in 243... the Vanguard was a 1st generation.

The Tikka is definitely lighter, has a much better trigger and is a better shooter.

This is correct, they are all long actions. The short action calibers use a different length bolt stop to shorten the travel of the bolt.

I have a tikka t3 lite great gun only thing I don't like is the 1@14 twist. It is a 22 250. It is almost in new shape. I may get it rebarrel or just sell it.

Tikka feels cheap and made cheap from my experiences. It's not on the list but you should take a look at the Remington Model Seven. Very light weight and very very accurate!!!!

I have a Vanguard S2 and it may weigh 1/2 lbs more then the Tikka, but it shoots so well theres not way I'd take a chance trading it for one. It is an incredible shooter!

Thanks for all your info you guys provided, still have not decided, I did put the Remmy Model 7 on my list. Ordered the grandaughter a Weatherby Vanguard 2 Girls Hunt in 243 last week, I will be picking that up tommorrow, since she will be in school, I quess I will have to break it in at the range...lol I will see how it shoots

Never shot the Weatherby but have a Tika T3 lite in 204. Love the smoothness of the bolt, happy with the trigger and it holds the longest kill to date against any of my other guns at 400 yards. Accurate enough for me.

Well I picked up the grandaughter's Weatherby Vanguard 2 Girls Hunt model on Friday. Mounted a Nikon Prostaff 3x9x40 with a bdc recticle. Nice rifel, action is fairly smooth, and trigger is good. I text her a pic and told her I was heading to the range to shoot, and pretty much got my head taken off LOL......she's only 12 omg.....did she forget who bought it......lol....here's a pic

I also decided to go the Tika t3 lite route in 22-250, liked the Vanguard, just liked the Tika more. Thanks for all the input

I bet you'll like the T3. I briefly had one in 22-250, only tried a couple factory rounds. It shot Hornady custom 55 vmax very well IIRC. I didn't keep it long enough to load for it, I sold it to buy the same T3 SS in 243.
