Weatherby vangurad 2 or Tika t3 lite 22-250

I have owned a Vanguard 22-250 for over 20 years. It has always shot very accurately.

I don't do Tikkas of any flavor, or any short action chamberings housed in long actions with bolt stops, for that matter......
 
I bought a Tikka T3 Lite in SS last December based on reports of out of the box accuracy being so common. Now this is just one man's experience, so take it as that. What a complete piece of sh!t that thing is. 4" groups with a $1000 scope. Then obnoxious flyers barely on the paper. I didn't anticipate the fact that the company won't stand behind their product, so off to the gunsmith. It should have been off to the classifieds. It shoots great now but with time gone, the expense etc... I sure wouldn't recommend one to a friend. Even if it worked great to begin with, that stock has got to be the worst thing I ever felt. It feels like a kids plastic gun. I won't do it again- and I tell anyone who will listen.

I've heard you say that many times over and I happen to disagree. They may not be the cream of the crop, but what is in that price range. Beretta customer service has treated me very fair, fixed my gun, promptly shipped back, and sent me a check to cover my shipping + insurance costs.
You could talk about Browning though. I have one of their shotguns and like it too.
 
We all have our likes and dislikes in firearms, for this firearm I had a set dollar amount I wanted to stay around for the firearm and acessories and the Tika fit the bill. but I also have a few Remmys, Winchester, Rockriver's Stevens etc. If I don't like it with the amount of folks on this thread that do....I dont think I will hzave a problem sending it down the road......again thanks for everyones input.
 
Resale is one of my mental measuring sticks when making a purchase. I had a very hard time selling a Vanguard .223 in perfect condition. Low count and only sighted never hunted, with box and papers. Ended up giving it away.
Have purchased 7 Tikkas and sold several on this board and privately as I upgraded.
 
I bought the T3 22-250 I posted about earlier, changed my mind and wanted it in 243 a couple weeks later. I posted it in classifieds on a local hunting forum and it sold in 20 mins. I had marked it down $50 from what I gave for it, probably should've asked full price.

He basically recrowned it, then at no cost to me other than components, had a friend with time on hand work up a load it liked. I tried but failed- as did the gunsmith. His friend was able to get it down to 1/2" consistently which is good enough for me since it's better than I can shoot. The smith was a little disgusted with that particular gun even as he handed it back- telling me to bring it back if there were problems as he guarantees his work, he handed me all the targets and load data progression but still wasn't too happy with it.
 
I have a T3 in stainless 223 and it's been a good shooter, but I don't know if I'd buy another. That's mostly because I like buying different brands though and there's lots of options.

I happened to show up at my parents while my brother was shooting last weekend and we walked up to the target together when he finished shooting. We got up to the target and I couldn't believe his groups. His 5 shot groups were probably averaging .5" @ 100. Some were just a single ragged hole. He had left the rifle back where he was shooting and after seeing the groups I asked what the heck he was shooting that well. He said a Tikka 243 (I didn't even know he had bought one). I asked him what he was using for ammo and he says "I don't know….some remington core-lokt…..it was all they had"

My lil brother shoots pistols a lot, but he doesn't shoot rifles very often at all. I was really surprised to see him shooting that well and with cheap rem ammo of all things. Tikka have some "chincy" attributes, but they typically shoot extremely well.
 
I think Core-Lokt is a very overlooked ammo. It shoots well in all my rifles in different calibers from .223 to .300 WM and has harvested many animals for me, from grouse to elk.
