Weaver Super Slam vs Bushnell 6500

I'm looking at purchasing a new scope for my .223. I'm torn between the Weaver Super Slam 3-15x50 and the Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x50. I really like the zoom these have to offer because this rifle is used for paper punching and hunting.

Between the two, which would be the better choice? I'm kind of leaning towards the Bushnell because of the wider field of view. But, I'd like a side by side comparison comparing clarity and tracking.

Own a similiar Super Slam...very nice glass and you'll like the pull-up turrets which track quite well for me. Only negative thing about mine is it is a little on the heavy side, hint-internals built like a tank, and not a scope I'd rercommend for a light carry rifle. Oh yea, if you have wide spacing between between your scope rings, mmight have a problem mounting a Super Slam. Had that problem on a long action Savage rifle. Own two bushnells, but not quality ones like you're interested in. So only comment I can make is fact that among the six plus fellow range members I shoot with on a regular basis, none owns a Bushnell scope. I'll see the higher end Weavers, Sightrons, Leupolds, Burris, Zeiss, Vortex, Nikons on most of their rifles.

I have no experance with the weaver scopes, but I own several Bushnell Elites. I love the bushnells, they are my favorite scopes by far.

I have 3 Weaver Super Slams and 6 Bushnell Elites the Weavers are diffently better than the Bushnells. I prefer the Weavers because of the side mounted AO and the crosshair seem finer. Plan on replacing my some of myh elites as time goes by.

Ive had one Bushnell 6500 4.5-30 and two Weaver Super Slams that were 4-20. I actually liked the Weaver better. Seemed more clear and user friendly. Both are going to be relatively heavy. The Bushnell seemed to get fuzzy around the edges after around 22 power or so IIRC. I never twisted turrets on either to test tracking, but the Weaver is really easy to use with the pop up turrets. Clarity was about too close to judge. I would give it to the Weaver by a small margin on scopes I had, but haven't looked through the power range you are looking at getting. Can't go wrong with either and at the power ranges you are looking at, both are going to be very nice scopes for the price.
