Well, the day started out bad, the Geese just wern't cooperating, although Art made a fantastic shot on a longrange honker to start the morning off. The second bird of the day also fell to Art's deadly aim. T and I finally got an oppertunity but came up a little short and had to leave the field in defeat.

The rest of the day was much better as we switched gears and tried our hand at Phesants. The wind was blowing stedy with occasional hard gusts as we entered the sage grass with high hopes for the evening. The dogs excitement could not be contained as T and Bobby released them into the field. They hunted hard and fast but could not find a single bird for their masters. Perhaps the wind was dispersing the scent, or the birds were running, maybe both. Finally, the dogs act birdy and Bobby sees a bird running hard and cuts it's getaway off as it flushes. he brings it down a might close in an explosion of feathers.

With one down and the wind slowing down a bit as the evening progressed, things started to shape up for us. The dogs started pointing bird after bird and the action got fast and fierce. The tall grass amd sourgum blowing in the wind made it difficult to find downed birds for us as well as the dogs. We lost a few but had plenty for tablefare at the end of a hard hunting day. Many thanks to my buddy T Harris and his dog Opie, and T's buddy Bobby and dog, Scooter. A good time was had by all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif kyray
