what about a 5.7 x 28mm rifle?

How will it compare to a 22 hornet or 22 mag?
Sounds like a cool little round, and it can be reloaded.
I could not find any rifles chambered in it.

If I recall Savage for a brief period made one in their Model 25 rifles but don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% positive. I know someone either does or did make an AR Upper for the 5.7x28 and I think some of those use the FN PS90 50rnd mags.

The 5.7x28 is a really cool looking little cartridge, I have a FN five seven pistol, but the brass isn't the greatest and kinda sucks.

Not that 22 Hornet brass is stellar but if you're going to reload for this I'd go 22 Hornet all day long over the 5.7x28 and since I'm no particular fan of the standard 22 Hornet if I was going down this road I would do either a 22 K or Ackley Hornet.

What about a 20 Caliber version K, Ackley, or Hornady Hornet. I've always thought one of those shooting something like the Hornady NTX 24gr or 32gr Vmax would be a fun project.

Several years ago I thought about it. From what I have read the brass has a coating to help in cycling and the size and quality of brass was not good for reloading so I ruled it out.

I recently purchased a Ruger 57 pistol, chambered in 5.7x28mm. It's basically the only thing out there besides an FN. I haven't even shot it yet because of the current ammo availability BS. But it's basically like a full size 1911. I hope to take it on some Pdog hunts in the near future.

Not only is availability difficult but, holy cow Batman, when you do find it have you seen the price of that stuff?! $80-$100++ per box and that's generally for the AE FMJ stuff.

A couple years ago Palmetto had a big sale on the SS197SR Vmax stuff and it included free shipping. I think I paid $16 per box for it and bought a few thousand rnds. Looking back I probably should have bought a lot more of it.

It would be very hard for me to justify a rifle in that caliber. It has no advantage over any existing cartridge.

1. There are no repeating actions scaled to anything smaller than a 222 Rem other than the 22TCM which is too short for 5.7x28mm.

2. It has no accuracy potential greater than the 222 Rem.

3. Zero ballistic advantage over existing cartridges.

4. Other than a high capacity handgun it is pretty much useless

5. In a single shot action a rimmed cartridge like the 22 Hornets or 218 Bee would be superior do to having a rim to easy in extraction.

I think trying to make a rifle out of it would be an expenditure of money with zero gain.

Just my $.02

There it is just what the was asked about. Great job finding it and the data related to it.
