What about Lynx?

I've heard of Lynx, but I havn't heard too much about people hunting them? Do you all up north do that? or are they endangered or something? Sorry for my ignorance.

Rtroxel,
Up here in Alaska plenty of people call them. According to guys who have hunted Bobcats, the Lynx are much easier to call. The season for most of Alaska is short though, around 6 weeks, and is during some of the coldest times. But they're callable and far from endangered. They go up and down with the hare population.

Lynx tracks are much bigger than their body represents. There feet actually are more mountain lion sized to distribute their weight better so they don't sink in the snow. Their steps are also very close together.

Their main diet is the Snowshoe Hare and their population is in direct relationship with the hares population. rabbit distress still work of course as well as smaller rodent sounds.

I also have heard many times that Lynx are easier to call in than Bobcats. From what I've seen on video, Bobcats look pretty cautious.

Here's pics of one I caught out in the open this year just at last light.

Here in my part of Indiana, we don't even bobcat. Sometimes some fox, but not too many, and plenty of coyotes, but it's so open and flat they don't really like coming real well in the day with my experiences (only 2, so maybe that doesn't count for much). I'd love to come up there to Canada sometime and call somewhere. Do you all call on ranches or public land?

You would need to hire a guide to legally hunt up here.

I hunt on both public land and ranches. Most of BC is public land so it's a paradise to hunt.

I took this pic the other day just for this thread. It will put some perspective on the size of their tracks. That's my Warne work gloves out of my recovery kit.
