What are the laws for predator hunting in Saskatchewan?

Just wondering what the laws are for Americans that want to hunt coyotes in Saskatchewan? Do we have to hunt with a canadian resident, is there a season, etc.? Thanks for the info!

Jeremiah, I BELIEVE American citizens cannot hunt predators in Sasketchewan any longer. You could at one time though. Maybe one of our Canadian members can confirm this.

Saskatchewan does not allow non residents to hunt coyotes.
They did allow it till a few years ago and had an annual bag limit of two.

Saskatchewan has lots of coyotes and lots of ground to hunt them, but like so many other good things, a few idiots wreck it for the majority.
I spoke to a game warden their as to the thinking on "no Coyotes' He said there were problems with non residents hunting deer under the guise of coyote hunting. F/G dept simply did not have the resources to police it, so they took the route of "no coyotes"

Each Province has it's own laws as each state does in the U.S.
In Alberta non residents can hunt coyotes with no bag limit and season open all year round on private property. Lots of coyotes and lots of ground to hunt them on.

BUT you must be guided. Either by a licensed guide for a fee or by a resident for no fee.

A resident can guide a non resident alien[ American once every three years, but cannot get paid for it.

A licensed guide can have the same clients year after year as I do, but he gets paid.

How has Randy Anderson been able to hunt and film with "Wooly" in Saskatchewan? Maybe he doesnt do any shooting, just filming. Well that sucks, sure looks like there is lots of great predator hunting to be had in Saskatchewan!

There are afew videos that were shot in Sask. But I'm not sure when or who did the actual shooting.

There's no shortage of coyotes in other provinces too. I'm surprised SAsk couldn't handle things differently. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Jeremiah, I believe Randy actually made the statement in one of his videos about not being able to hunt because of Sask. changed law so he was just there to video 'wooly' doing his thing.

So the question I put out here for all to chew on, would you rather see hunts on a video where you will never be able to hunt or would you rather see hunts from places you can hunt yourself-I only ask because we video coyotes, I would like to hear some opinions.

I would like to see them no matter where the hunt is.

Heck I watch (Purchase the DVD's) hunts from here in the US such as AZ, NM, CA, WA and I would bet I never get to get out there to hunt them.
So YES, US, My State other states overseas Great White North, would not matter to me.

It depends on why you buy the video. I watch for entertainment first and education second.I have access to areas that are usually better than what is on the videos.

The entertainment factor is big for me.I have an idea how many missed shots, bloopers and foul ups happen to put together one of those videos where the guy calls a predator on every stand and kills them on every stand. I know a lot of work goes into them.

I do think it would be better if everyone could have access to the places in the video, but it's not a big deal.
