What are you drinking?

i like it when you order a bourbon and coke or whiskey and coke and they ask what bourbon / whiskey you want and they start with the top shelf stuff

if i'm drinking it with coke i want the cheapest stuff you got. i want the bottom of the well.

top shelf gets done neat or with a few cubes to chill it a bit :)
 
I hear you bohunr… my wife is notorious for grabbing “any” bottle to make a mixed drink! There’s been times when a divorce was in question over her choices! 😂

It’s gotten better over time, but man it’s been a struggle to get her to understand where I’m coming from!
 
Other than Gin and Tonic (medicinal elixir) to me a mixed drink is booze and booze, Martini or Manhattan. Liquor is expensive why water it down with pop or fruit juice.

ive had a similar conversation with my local party store guy more than a few times...

although ususally it goes like "dont try to sell me a $60+ bottle and then tell me its a great mixer" "if i want a mixer, it better be under $30."

although sometimes i'm pretty sure he's just doing it to mess with me, 100% knowing its not in my flavor profile to begin with.

thankfully.. 90% of the time when he's got something new, or a single barrel, he'll buy a bottle and let us regulars taste it. little ¼-½oz pour kinda thing. enough to give you a good taste of it. which is how he gets a lot of guys like me who wont buy a $50+ bottle blind. because i've ended up with too many $60 mixers that i was told were amazing that simply weren't. not even on the rocks.
