what arrows do you shoot (recurve)

I just ordered my new bow.Does anyone shoot aluminum still from a recurve? If so what poundage and arrow size? Im thinking I use to shoot 2016 legacy shafts from my 52 lb Black Widow.

Been pretty hot on Axis/MFX shafts recently.....GT and Arrow Dynamics Triad shafts are standby faves. I also transitioned to high to extreme FOC setup on my arrows in the last couple years, just shoots well and makes sense to me.

I shot alum for years but the simple fact is carbons are better.A 50 lb bow of any type is plenty for any big game critters in the USA.For your bow forget the 2016.You'll need at least 2018 maybe 2117 depending on draw/arrow length and BH weight.

Yup. Nothing like making some arrows from Port orford cedar, and the smell is amazing.

If you want to try wood maple is really nice.I shot them out of my longbow. They're heavy, stay straight and very durable.PO cedar was the first woodies I tried. They shoot great but break way to easy.I also tried ash.Same qualities as maple maybe even tougher except they won't stay straight.

I love cedar arrows, but after years of finding nothing but poor quality cedar I finally went to shooting carbons out of my longbows and recurves. I shoot 60 lb. bows mostly and shoot a gold tip 55/75 with 100 grain brass inserts up front and shoot heavier broadheads than a lot do. I shoot a Simmons land shark 2 blade broadhead that weighs 160 grains. These fly like darts out of every traditional bow I own and have performed flawlessly on over 20 big game animal up to elk. With this much weight my bows are extremely quiet. the last elk I shot gave me complete penetration and I found my arrow stuck in a tree about 50 yards past the elk. When I shoot cedar I use Zwicky black diamond 2 blade heads and have had very good luck with them. I just never could get the ones with bleeder blades sharpened to my specifications so I stuck with the 2 blade. If you cant sharpen broadheads to keep them razor sharp I would recommend heads that come pre sharpened like the Muzzy phantom or the Mangus buzzcut.

I'm shooting carbons out of my longbow, recurve and compound. The beauty of it besides all that goes along with them is I shoot the same arrows from all three bows.I just use different weight heads and they all shoot beautiful.Buzzcut 110gr with the compound,Magnus 125 gr screw in with the recurve and Magnus 125gr glue on with 50gr long taper adapter for the longbow.

My Bear Kodiak is at #55 and I shoot easton aluminum arrows but at the moment can't remember which ones thinking 2217, they were arrows that my grandpa had bought years ago and had not even cut to length or fletched before giving them to me.

I've been shooting bear razor heads and magnus stingers with great results for each. The last deer I shoot I buried a stinger in the far side leg and the deer was down in under 50yards.
