I'm looking to get a Bi-Pod for my 22-250. What brand should i look into? If anyone is selling one let me know and we could maybe work out a deal.

Thanks,
Greg

Very Very few people stick with a mounted Bi Pod. They are great to shoot off of, but they carry terrible. I currently use a Trigger Stick most of the time or a home made Varmint Al version.

I agree with daddyflea the gun mounted bi pod is terrible to carry. In my opinion none of them extend high enough. I have a set of shooting sticks that etend from prone to standing shooting height. I believe they are by Vangaurd and the top (v) section where the gun rests pivots 360.Nothings perfect but these sticks are close to it.
Good luck.

Harris.

Stoney Point Rapid Pivot or a set of Vern Howey sticks ain't to shabby either.

Ernest (Daryl p), these sticks you say will work from prone to standing, what is the full collapsed length and full extended length on those?

Happen to have a link to them? Maybe a picture?

Thanks.

Ive had a Harris, and a Caldwell. I currently use a Caldwell. From my experience the Caldwell worked just as effective as my Harris for about 40.00 less....

13-27" caldwell or stoney points for coyote guns, 9-13" for prone p-dogging....they are all pretty much the same untill you get into the top line custom $200+ kind. All my guns have bipods and there is not an issue with carrying them ever in the last 30yrs that way.

I have to totally disagree here. I think the cheaper Harris "clones" like Stoney Point, Shooter's Ridge, and Caldwell and such are absolute crap. Half of them don't mount up straight or sit level, or the legs are two different lengths. Durability/reliability is also pitiful compared to a Harris IMO.

Harris is also top notch to deal with, Made in USA, and they will stand behind their product, much like RCBS and Leupold do. I'll happily spend the extra loot on a Harris as opposed to a cheap Chinese "knockoff"..............

harris... only way to go for shooting.... the cheap ones are fine for just setting your rifle down to cross a fence, glass, etc.....

I disagree with your disagreement.....All the "non harris" bipods I own are as good as the 3 harris pods I own in the mix (11 total). Ive never seen any of the issues you claim on the other brands. All of them have been as durable & reliable just like the harris ones.
Everyone has their likes/dislikes just like us & thats good for reviews of said product.

Harris is about as low as I would go on bipods. You get what you pay for, if you want thin walled chinese crap get a knockoff. If you want something that is stable as well as durable get harris, or maybe even atlas:) Go down to the local sporting goods store and lay the harris next to brand b and feel them both then tell me they are the same.

I have personally broken one, and my friends broke also. Weld came loose on both of them. I find the overall quality to be far less than that of a Harris, and will gladly pay twice the price for a Harris.

The one "clone" that I still own will not even sit level on my pool table. Not the first time I have seen this. I use it for sitting guns around or taking pictures, that is about it. It is no good for shooting.

Take one of the cheaper clones, open the legs up, and attempt to squeeze the legs together. But don't do it too hard, because you will break it, I promise you. It doesn't take much pressure at all. I'm quite certain my youngest (11 yr old daughter) could squeeze the legs together.

Do the same to a Harris. No troubles. It will not fold up.

There are some others on this site who have had troubles with the cheaper bipods also. Maybe they will chime in........

I actually just did what you said. The Harris is easily the beefier of the 2........

I own a Caldwell and a Harris. Harris is by far better quality. The Caldwell works just fine. I am careful with it though. Definately not as durable.

Any of you guys use the Primos trigger stick bi pod? I'd like to know if the legs adjust individually to sit flat on un even ground?
