I'm pleased with my gong from metaltargets.com. I got the 10" swinging gong made from 500 Brinell steel. It's about 1/2" thick and is bolted to a 46" high frame with an optional base. It's very sturdy, yet portable enough to haul several hundred yards pretty easily. I paid $140 shipped about a year ago and it took about 4 weeks for them to build it and ship it. Very good quality!

Here it is at 300 yards with my 223.

I made my own stand from scrap steel around the shop. Bought these three AR500 plates online and welded a section of pipe on the back to thread the crossbar through for 'swingability'. I have a bunch of other homemade plates too...

Have both a short and long crossbar scetion that the plates swing on or hang from. It's all held together by gravity...

Breaks down in no time & fits on the ATV for easy transport...

Even made a coyote to 'kill'...

I like it CHEAP!! Call the local brickyarda and see if they have any cinder block molds. Don't know what kinda' steel it is but it'll take a VLD bullet strike with just the tiniest impression left. They'll probably just give it to u, as they usually trash it when it gets out of spec. They'll have a few sizes from about 9X9" to 9.25 x 17".

For suspending i use 3 pieces of steel rod material (rebar works great), and 2 copper or galvanized plumbing T's. Pound 2 of the rebar into the ground, place the T's on top and slide the last piece of rebar thru them parallel to the ground. Now hang the steel with S-hooks u can find on the end of rubber bungee cords.

Here's a pic of it (the one with the handgun below it)--

I love shooting steel targets for the sound, movement, and splatter mark. But then you have to walk a long ways to repaint it instead of just hanging 10 targets at once and shooting them one by one.

Man, ain't it though. Kinda' wish Varmint Hunters would go back to putting guns on their cover photos. That pic would be nice to see on the front of the next issue. Only needs one other thing--1 shot dead center on that dog!

U know Stiff Neck, come to think of it i bet Precision Shooting would make that cover photo. That's $300--at least it used to be. Just looked at it agin, and i'd bet $ editor Dave Brennan there would just love it.

Thanks. I don't buy any gun mags currently, but I'd like to sell some pics eventually. Here's another pic from that day. Beautiful spot.
