what can get out of a 330 conibear

Had a conibear in a box and something pulled it 4 ft out of the box no hair no tracks. I'm think the worst case is we had 55mph wind it set it self off from the wind and somehow flung itself out of the box that far? Or sasquatch

If there is nothing holding it in the box and it goes off, the springs pushing against the back of the slots could hace probably shot it that far.

As to what triggered it, who knows. Could have neen a small critter, and the trap closed all around but not on it, or it could have gotten knocked or fell out of the box and sprung from the landing.

My boss had wolverines pull out of 330's and I have had otter pull out of a 330 before. They were all older traps. I switched to belisles and the problem went away.

I had a badger break the wire and run about fifty yards with a 330 on his neck. I would make sure that those springs are held that way it doesnt fall over

Well no hair no tracks should be enough for me too decide it wasn't an animal. Just thought there woulndt be a way it could fly that far but they are brand new.

Well the box was notched thin enough for the springs and the made a litlle divot spot for em to set at and the notchs were at a slight angle. Is that a good way of notching a box. Oh and something did clean out my bait. But could of been lots of things didn't tye it to the box. More of a smear on the bottom! And trigger was at the top... Well maybe the bottom now I can't remeber.

I like to cut the notches big and put sticks through the triggers and into the ground to stable the trap but I know in the prairie its hard to do, so a guy might want to invest in some of those conibear stabilizers
