What do you think?

I'm trying to gear up an AR for coyotes. I want an accurate 16" barrel with collapsable stock and a nice two stage like a giesselle ssae. All the rest is not too important to me. What do you think of these parts:

Rock river complete upper predator pursuit bead blasted barrel $650 from dealer
http://rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=271

PSA complete lower with magpul grips and stock $220
http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.ph ... azine.html

Geissele Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced (SSA-E) Trigger $230

If you think I can do it better for less or with better components let me know. Thx!

Your link to the upper didn't work, but check here, it might be cheaper LINK

Primary Arms has the SSAE on sale for $195.50 + cheap shipping right now. I buy all my triggers from them.LINK

Good find! I guess my question to that is the enhanced version the way to go over the standard. I'm not really a trigger snob butt appreciate a good one. Fixed the link

I think with the cost of stripped lowers and the fact that you are going to replace the FCG I would buy a stripped lower and build it myself. They are not hard to build up my first one took 30 minutes.

The deal on the lower isn't bad, might be able to save a little building it yourself.
Here's what I came up with..

Custom LPK $50.93 (w/ moe grip, no trigger, no trigger guard)

Stripped lower $43

MOE stock kit $60

SSA-E $195.50

I would definitely go with the SSA-E over the SSA, the pull is lighter and it feels better. I believe it's the best all-around trigger you can buy, if that's what you were referring to as enhanced.

Should I entertain a PSA 16" wylde stainless upper? Both suppose to be Wilson blanks but I think PSA is cheaper and I like the fore grip a little more.

I would personally go with the PP upper, my friend bought a psa upper (16" chrome lined) that was an absolute turd in terms of accuracy. It was a different upper and it might have just been a lemon, but who knows.
The PP rifles get high reviews here

Wasn't sure because the PSA stainless uppers appear to have same Wilson blanks but maybe their finishing isn't as good?

Im sure I will appreciate the pp upper's accuracy. I'm also wondering about weight and if there is a melonite barrel that can shoot good enough that I won't be disappointed with(3/4 moa or better). My head hurts. Thx man Im sure the easy solution is RRA.

The words chrome lined and accuracy usually dont go together. A couple guys on here have psa's that shoot pretty good. If i was going buy something from psa it would be a stainless barrel.

It could be a good shooter, I'm just basing my opinion off of personal experience.

You could always build an upper as well if you want specific parts.

I have a voodoo barrel on hand for my next AR project. They claim a 1 moa guarantee on their product launch announcement on ar15.com. I try and buy the best barrel I can, but this time I focused on weight.

I went with a PSA 16 inch SS 1x7 twist daily deal. Got the upper for $339 the lower is also a PSA.

Got the SSALT mounts and a Nikon Coyote on clearance from Natchez for $139. I have a little less than $750 in the whole thing as you see.

Group is with 68 grain Ultamatch hollow points.

They have this one on sale right now. Not exactly the same as mine, but close. Different handquard but think same barrel.

Don't sell the Rock 2-stage trigger short, I bought the 20" PP complete rifle and could not be happier, I am getting under 1/2" groups with my handloads, and it falls under the 3/4" with Winchester store bought ammo which is the first stuff I ran through the gun when I bought it.

I have this same setup and mine shoots as well as this one. Don't think you have t0 break the bank to get an AR for coyote work.

I ended up with just buying barely used. It is a RRA 16 bead blasted with a new RRA lower with mil spec trigger and collapse stock. I ordered an ssae trigger, hogue trigger guard, aero 30mm mounts aswell as a couple 20rd pmag. I might have spent about the same as I could have built it myself new. Next time. I'm excited for a build from scratch. I have the type of personality that loves this sort of thing.

So my biggest question are loads. I'm used to using sierra 55 btsp over varget out of my 22-250. Which bullets group best? I prefer a 50-55 for velocity reasons since I'm off a much faster .22. Or, do heavier bullets just work better out of 223 for killing coyotes? Oh I'll add it doesn't have to be fur friendly but in the off chance I call a bobcat it would be nice not to blow it up. I have been looking at 53gr vmax. Is it safe to expect 3200fps from a 16" barrel?

My favorite bullet is the 60vmax for all around killing and his been fur friendly. My second choice is the 55 grain Sierra Game King for predators.

I went with the 68 grain hollowpoints in this rifle because it just so happened I had a box sitting around that I had gotten at a raffle, and I wanted this one primarily for killing hogs.

Just so happens the 68 grainers shot very well in this rifle.
