What do you use to carry your gear?

So, im wondering how you all like to carry your gear out in the field, maybe both for longer days away from the car and doing single stands between short runs with the car?

Ive been using a Camelback Mule & have been strapping my E. Caller to the outside & it wont hold my two clothing layers inside it.

Do you prefer a moderate volume backpack with a good hip belt or the load bering belt with the shoulder harness?

I saw some nice examples of each at Cabelas between $70 & $100.

If you could, it would be great to hear your pros & cons & why you use what you do.

Thank you!!!the

I go light. I carry my rifle on a sling on my right shoulder. E caller on a sling on my left shoulder. Chair on sling on left shoulder with e caller. Head mounted thermal scanner. Hand calls, drag, flashlight in pocket. Remote around my neck. Tripod or sticks in hand. When I first started calling I brought everything but the kitchen sink in a pack. Ive streamlined my gear over the years to just what I actually need. I'm much more efficient now.

I carry my call in a backpack with extra batteries, the remote, extra gloves, etc. Rifle on a sling and shooting sticks in hand. No chair, yet.
Last weeks I took a Savage 99C with no sling. That won't happen again because it was just a hassle carrying it between 3 sets.

Rifle or shotgun slung on right shoulder, caller, seat and sticks in left hand going to stand. Add coyote on paracord tote in right hand coming back.

Just about the same here except call in pocket not in hand. I try to keep it simple..

Eberlestock.
You're able to carry your rifle on your back with an integrated scabbard, centralizing the location of the rifles gravity, making it much easier to carry, along additional room for anything else you may need.

Yip. Plus binos on a chest harness.

Most people start out with too much stuff, and tend to pare back as they get more experience. Long walks would require a couple more things but I don't do that much.

Rifle, sticks and chair go in the back scabbard. On the road everything gets strapped to the bike, once I get off the pavement I wear it riding ,just park the bike and walk out and do a stand . I started hunting like this on skis, then snowshoes, bicycles and now the MC. Even hunting out of the truck use the scabbard to get to the stand as everything is together, no gathering gear together just slip on the scabbard and head out. the caller is clipped to the front of the shoulder straps like binocular case.

Scabbard before I went to a three leg stool.

Mojo Critter Sitter with a foam pad and Shockwave strapped on, Trigger Sticks in its integral pocket, plus a few odds and ends in its pockets. Snuggle Buddy (chest rig) to carry bino, GPS, Shockwave remote, and a few other little things. Carry the rifle or shotgun, 'cuz you might kick one up walking in.

I use a seek outside backpack since it’s the same pack I use for backpacking, deer hunting, and elk hunting. If I’m
Making short walks to stands and driving between I just carry the caller, rifle, and tripod.

I usually have a pack but not always. A pack really helps if I'm caring a heavy tripod, rifle, shotgun and e-caller. If I'm using hand calls and only a rifle then no pack is needed.

I use a ground and pound coyote chair that has an incorporated bag that I carry my Lucky Duck Revolt and other misc stuff in. Sling my rifle on my shoulder or just carry in my hand.

I put together a similar setup last year. Only got out twice with it, but it seems to have a ton of potential.

After having to tote all my gear AND drag back 2 or 3 coyotes I have cut back on gear a lot! Rifle has a buttstock shell holder for spare shells and brass. Sling, bipod. Rangefinder and drags go in pockets handcalls on a lanyard around my neck and if taking the FoxPro I have a small FoxPro bag it fits in.
I like to be free of trinkets and gadgets enough that while walking to and from I can deploy in an instant if a coyote shows up on my way in

Some really great suggestions and examples shown above. I simply walk to my hunting grounds behind the house and its only about a 100 yards, so I carry what I need in my hands. Rifle & a thermal scanner attached to monopod. I leave my rifle tripod at my hunting spot since I hunt from a covered structure that has windows I shoot out of. If I had to carry anything more or go any distances I'd vote for a decent backpack to carry more stuff if needed. After many years of hunting annually out west, I dont typically carry much so a small backpack suffices very well. Like others mentioned, I used to carry a lot of "stuff" but as time passed I realized I didnt need so much "stuff" and every pound counts when going up and down the rocky mountains. The lighter the better. I see you're in Colorado so I know you probably already know that.

Depends on weather, temperature, ect. Also how long I plan to stay out, what else is in season. I usually carry too much, "just in case". Backpacks, fanny packs, and shoulder bags, hot seats, turkey seats, three legged stools, live in the truck until spring.
