Hmmm... what ever you choose, take it out to the range and fire it at night, with the ammo you want to carry. Magnum revolvers have a pretty impressive muzzle flash. Some revolver loads will leave you night blind. OTOH, the Winchester Silvertip 145gr. 357 was made for reduced flash. .45acp is also nearly flash-free. 9mm is a little worse, but not nearly as bad as a 4" revolver.

5.7x28
Either the 28 grn hp
or
40 grn V-max.

20 rnd Magazines available.

Very low recoil.

These should produce velocities around 2000 fps for the 28 grn and high teens for the 40 grn

Tactical light and laser are mountable.

Smith & Wesson M629 Classic 6 1/2" .44 Mag.

Good choice. Blind him, shoot him and burn the fur off at the same time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

LOL, you guys are killing me!!!.........I would suggest a good .22 lr semi-auto with some hollow points. That 5.7 might be interesting.

If critters are jumpin in the truck after you, maybe you should just stick to your calling rifle and weld a bayonet lug on, and fight them off with that!

Ruger Mark II .22 LR. Very reliable and very accurate.

I'd second that, machine gun 'em. If you cook off a .357 or .44 Mag. inside your truck cab, you won't be hearing anything for a couple of days. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

12 gauge. A handgun in the dark with a mad animal only a few feet away from you is a bad situation. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The shotgun might make a mess at close range, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif but if you were standind there with only a pistol, you'd have a bigger mess in your pants. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
