What height scope rings are most of you guys using?

What height rings give you the most comfortable cheek weld?

If it matters, I will be using an A2 stock. But my scope is 3-9x40.

I tried eyeing the height of my rings on one of bolt guns with my AR but not sure which length to go with.

Was thinking a 3/4" or maybe a 1" height ring.

I looked at 1 inch and i thought it was going to be a little low. Im sure its different with everyone, i just dont want to have to bury my cheek in the stock. Id go with at least 1 inch. Just my 2 cents, im sure youll get alot of opinions on here. Just try a few and see what fits you best.

mine are the Mark IV SUPER HIGH 30mm rings. i dont know what that turns out being but i know it's almost too low for my 50mm objective and i wouldnt mind having an extra 1/2 of height cause i feel like im mashing my face down sideways to see through it.

best thing to do would be to go in to a shop and see if they can give you some different rings to test out with your scope. dont have to tighten them down, just set it on and test it out.

The burris XTR rings in Extra High work really well for me on the flat top AR's. I have them mounted on several different AR's and love them. I also have a Burris one piece mount that I really like as well. It is the same height as the extra high XTR rings.

I have Burris Medium rings on R25 with Nikon 4.5-14 x40 and some steel Leupold rings on an AR with a Burris FF2 4.5-14 x 40 both set-ups keep the scope close to the bore,...but how important is this? It definately is not the most comfortable or natural feel. I was thinking about trying a Burris PEPR mount on the .223 since it got knocked a little out of whack when I slipped on ice this winter anyway.

I have the same question but for mounting either a Zeis 3X9X40 Conquest or a Leupold 2.5X8X40 VX3 (both are on sale at Cabela's). Both are 1" diameter. My rifle is a 5.56 Sig Classic that came with a small but not so good red dot. My preference is towards a tighter cheek weld rather than holding my head off.

Leupold see through high rings will put your scope at the correct height, about $20 at wallysworld.
Burris 1pc PEPR mount is perfect also.

Would you mind weighing in on the two scopes I mentioned? I plan to use my rifle for coyotes in our area with shots ranging from 50-250 yards.

My father-in-law used to be one of the best all-time coyote trappers in our area but his health has stopped him. The area is now out of control so I hope to learn how to do my part.

I don't figure I have to kill them all, just enough to get the word out that it's not a nice neighborhood.

Thanks,
