What is the lightest stock I can get for a G2 Contender carbine?

I have a G2 Contender carbine with factory wood. It is a .17 Mach 4 with a 23" tapered barrel. I want to make it as light as possible and was wondering what the lightest stock I could get for it would be. I see the black plastic ones, are they lighter than the wood?

I know the cheap Remington 700 SPS stock I have is heavier than the walnut Mountain rifle stock I replaced it with so I'm not assuming the black Contender stocks are lighter than the walnut ones.

Has anyone weighed both the factory walnut and factory composite stock?

Are there any aftermarket synthetic options for the G2 like Kevlar or carbon fiber?

You might want to pull up the Pachmayr website...They produce a set of replacements and will probably list the weight, or at least a number where you can call to get specifics...I know from experience with heavy caliber handguns, their grips are lighter than wood and much more comfortable for shooting...The do list them for the T/C G2 in some catalogs...

The black composite are really light. I've also seen collapsible stocks over at EA Brown. Those may be even lighter. Be aware that you "may" need a cheek riser with either, but that is light enough.

I saw your other post about your .223 and that is what really got me thinking about getting a synthetic stock for mine. Thank you for the reply.

Thanks for the heads up about EA Brown.

From what I read so far, Choate makes the factory T/C stocks. The ones that EA Brown sell says they are made by T/C. I would assume they are the same stocks.

I will take a look at Bullberry's site. Thank you.
