Here is some of my favorite gear that I wont leave the house with ought.

1- Kings camo backpack, clothes and hat with built in face cover
2- Kings camo winter bibs, gloves etc.
3- Foxpro FX3 (loaned to me by my cousin about a year ago)
4- Harris bi-pod or my homemade shooting sticks
5- I love my Cabellas camo boots
6- MoJo Critter (duct tape and all)
7- Diaphragm call to put in my cheek to ki-yi after a shot
8- Savage 22-250 with a custom camo paint
9- Coyote special with Max1 camo and BDC reticle and the anti reflective device
10- Leatherman ChargeTI
11- Windicator puffer
12- Allen bino buddies (camo)
13- Scope covers after learning my lesson a few weeks ago
14- Sony camera (just in case I get something)
15- Tubbs snowshoes (I just got them for Christmas)

Anything that I should add to my bag of tricks?

You forgot,
Toilet paper (camo of course)
Rope (camo)
Ammunition (non camo)
Matches/lighter/firestarter. (camo optional)
Bag for all the tricks (camo)
Wheelbarrow for bag (camo)
FixaFlat for wheelbarrow tire (non camo)

I learned my lesson after suffering trying to carry too much stuff. I wear camo, head to toe, have an open reed call around my neck, and I carry a cushion to sit on and carry my .223. Just the bare minimum.

I haven't learned this lesson yet.
Backpack with water bladder (filled), carries my rifle which is 12lbs unloaded without the scope, 3 pairs of gloves, box of extra ammo, headlamp, multi tool, knife, about a dozen calls, Binos, electronic hearing muffs, camcorder, and my tripod.

Then, I carry my mojo critter in my hand, although I may carry my tripod as well, instead of keeping it in the bag.

I now have snow shoes as well, these will probably go on my feet, but it is tempting to try and jam them in the backpack as well, makes for tougher walking though.

For clothing: Under armour coldgear legs, top, hoodie, and liner gloves. Thin polypro moisture wicking socks, thick extreme cold wool oversocks. Cabelas xtreme cold base layer legs and top, then some natgear bibs with my duck hunting jacket, snow natgear overpants and jacket, and some kind of hat. Cabelas still hunter 1400 boots, keeping me looking my freshest, no scuffs.

The coldgear baselayers with the Cabelas base over it has to be about the best thing I've stumbled upon, warmth without the bulk, the rest could come or go though.

Like Mick I'm finding it waay easier to carry less.

When i first started i carried a heavy bbl .223, foxpro and speaker i'n a foxpro bag, and a backpack filled with water, snacks, emergency stuff, decoy, knife, etc, and a cushion.

Fast forward 5 years- now i carry a lightweight 22-250, 3 handcalls on a lanyard, and a backpack with only water, snack, ammo, and a monopod that fits i'n the pack. I only carry a cushion if snows on the ground. I travel waay lighter these days.

Fav gear- any accurate rifle and my Kerry carver swift call, and rabid rabbits. Don't leave home without them.

NatGear Leafy jacket
NatGear snow poncho

Field line backpack
Mojo Critter
Foxpro
hand calls
drag rope
camera
2 pairs of gloves
face mask
Beanie
shells
binocs
Shooting sticks / bipod with one of my kids is with me.
butt pad
knife

i am all for the less is more approach, this is my list for hunting pretty much anything, and i am not including my clothes that i wear

gun
extra ammo
knife
length of rope / cord
seat
binocs
calling tools of some sort
special stick, that i use for a shooting rest, a walking stick, and electric fence mover, and a brush organizer.

and everything less the seat, gun and stick fit in a small velvety (quiet) camo backpack.

I have a larger back pack that has a gun carrier built into it, but it is a pretty big bag and am yet to use it.

Here's my short list

1. My Mossberg 935
2. Foxpro and the remote. (I've left without one or the other)

3. Two thermos of coffee.

Foxpro
Gun
Ammo
Shooting stick
Manual call
Decoy
Cushion

One of my hunting buddies wears a turkey vest. It's got a cushion and plenty of pockets. I think about all he carries in his hand is his shooting stick. I need a good turkey vest.

I usually have what most of you have already mentioned, and more, in the Jeep somewhere. There might even be a homeless guy living in that Jeep somewhere. I could probably never find what I needed if I needed it, but it's there, somewhere. Maybe. Unless the homeless guy threw it out. lol

When I get out of the Jeep to make a stand only the bare minimum gets taken.

Yeah I go with the lighter is better. I still feel like I have too much. I have the e caller, stix, pad only if there is snow, gun, binos and when I remember my mouth calls. The worst(best) is on the way back to the truck if you actually shoot a dog and have to drag it back to the truck.

They're good as gold! Everything I need, other than my gun, is in my turkey vest...(or at least in Kizmo's; bless him!)...and the type with attached cushion creates something like a folding chair...back rest and all; MOST comfortable for long stands.
