My rest was not a bench rest and there was a wee bit of wind:
Best group was .81" with my tailored hand-loads. Most common group size was from .9 to 1.5" which was acceptable with the 4x scope. I'm used to shooting varmint rigs with 4x16 or 6x22 scopes and 4x is small!!!! Federal American Eagle AE223J provided the best groups and velocity. Almost all of the factory 55g FMJ velocities were around 2900-3100 fps. I've taken 2 mule deer bucks of average size with my hand-loads at 288 yards and around 175 yards. Both one shot with minimal tracking.....25-50 yards.
My son brought his Sig up for Thanksgiving and we sighted it in without the chronograph. He has a 3X scope and he was shooting in a wee bit higher wind velocity. His best group was .72. His averages for group size were almost identical to mine, .72-1.5" with the factory ammo.
Needless to say both of us are extremely happy with these SIGS.
How many shots for each group? How are you measuring the distance between shots to determine the group size?
