Am looking for your pet load. Have H-335 and Hornady 77 grain BTHP bullets. Will be fireing these in a 1 in 7 twist, 223/5.56, AR. Also have 69 grain and 75 grain bullets to figure out.
Thanks in advance for your help.
OB
Remington 223
Sierra 77 gr HPBT Cannelure
0.224 dia. 22 cal
21.5 gr Hodgdon H335 Rifle Powder
CCI 400 small rifle primer
BHA used Brass
OAL 2.26"
I went up to 22.2 grains of H335 and started getting signs of over-pressuring. At 22.4 I had a blown out primer and a little smoke. 21.5 grains gave the best groups in my rifle with a 1:7 twist.
Also:
Remington 223
Sierra 69 gr HPBT Match
0.224 dia. 22 cal
22.8 gr Hodgdon H335 Rifle Powder
CCI 400 small rifle primer
Used Brass
OAL 2.235"
Also if you are interested the following cartridge is accurate but has to be loaded one at a time:
Remington 223
Sierra 90 gr HPBT Match
0.224 dia. 22 cal
21.4 gr IMR 4895 Rifle Powder
CCI 400 small rifle primer
Used BHA Match Brass
OAL 2.439"
OB: The 77 SMK's need a bit slower powder to perform well, do try some Varget, RE15 or H4895 for that bullet, I can tell you that Sierra does NOT want more than 24.0gr Varget due to the long bearing surface, that considers a W/W case
