what optic for 45 degree offset mount on AR

I have a DPMS prairie panther with a 1" riflescope that I would like to mount a 45 degree offset on the left side (left handed) and mount a red dot or reflex on that. This would be for shots out to about 50 yards. The 45 mount would have to be in front of the scope. Would a fully enclosed red dot or a reflex be better? Any recommendations & pictures welcome. I may also have to get a lower profile bolt handle.

I've seen a lot of different types used in three gun competitions...each competitor seems to swear by what they have, but in reality, I think is comes down to what you get used to using...

I've used a BSA 42mm can type with a 4 MoA dot as well as an Optima 2000 reflex that is much lighter, but also much smaller and the dot is a 1 MoA and slightly harder to see in a hurry...For shots 50 yards and under, IMHO, a 2-3 MoA dot would be about ideal...Personally, the 4 MoA dot is great out to 30 yards, but tends to be too large for any kind of pin point (2-3" kill zone) shooting after 30 yards..

I did this one with some extended 45 degree mounts. Kind of cheesy butthey worked. No name I recall but they are pretty common. This will be on my new Victory BHW built by Ritch. It is set up as a proof of concept on a 6X68 RPG.

The Millet has several reticle choices for various uses.

Here I am old school with a 6X45 I campaigned for years. This one just has a flat mount way out on the hand guard.

I prefer the regular red dot over a reflex. I think they aren't quite as critical about the eyes being behind them.

Just make sure the dot is visible in full sunlight. I bought a Dr optic reflex but it was useless outside in full light.
