Sold a couple medium sized sub-prime coyotes a couple weeks ago for $18 on the carcass here in WY (Petska Furs is the buyer). The guy said by Dec. they should be between $18-$24 on the carcass and between $30-$35 for Grade 1 skinned. Haven't sold any since Nov. 20 so I don't know if that is proven true. What are you all getting for your dogs? Also what about cats? My buddy just shot a 31# male Bobcat, no damage. What are they getting?

I'm getting $10-$15 for unskinned coyotes around here. As far as bobcats, it all depends on the quality of the fur (spots, size, damage.)

Gil,
Furs here in Central Kansas are around $12-$15 for coyotes on the carcass. My fur buyer indicates good cats will bring in the $125-$150 range depending on what they consider quality as cjg indicates.

Sure beats a couple of years ago when I sold the most beautiful coyote I've ever seen for $5.00!

When I was a senior in high school, 1978-79, coyotes were bringing $65.00 on the carcass here. We were making some pretty good money picking up ones that were run over on the highway, as well as hunting. Does anyone know what the reason was that fur prices were that high during that period?

NAFA is expecting both eastern and western coyotes to be in demand again this season. What prices they'll fetch at auction will still remain to be seen as the winter sales haven't started yet....January 7th being the first for NAFA. And I believe Fur Harvesters have a sale in mid-December. We'll all have a good idea of the trend for the season after the first sale.

Skin them yourself, flesh, board, dry and ship them to NAFA. Check prices yourself at NAFA.ca. Last feb fur sale results were:

Western Heavy average was 53.56
Eastern " " 32.57
Semi heavy " " 25.32
Flat " " 21.24
Section 111 8.58

Those were average if your pelts were better you got paid more. It is always kinda nice to beat the average. Paul
