Who would have the Alaskan # 9? What length and diameter snare would be best? Any info or good books study guides etc on wolf trapping in the north? Doesn't the Alaska Trappers Association have a note / seminar guide available from a few years ago?? That would be really good to have from what I have heard.. Be nice to get a copy of that notebook...
Yep without doubt the #9 is the best trap for wolves. Off course I'm a bit prejudice as my SIL father built and sold them for years until he sold his business a couple of years ago.
Alaskan/Glen - Go to the Alaska Trappers Association site. It is at:
They have a bunch of info there on trapping in Alaska. I think the wolf trapping course was last weekend. Also join the association. They have a nice monthly publication.
CoyoteSlayer - What the heck have you've been up to lately?? Don't you just love this "cold" winter? Gonna suck like last year I'm afraid except I have noticed a bit more freezeup where I usually go. Me, I have only been out a couple of times calling as business seems to get in my way as well as some personal travel the wife is making me do later next week! LOL.
Earlier this week we, Dean sr. & jr. & others, were disussing the wolves in the areas near where you hunt and how they hunt using the terrain in the area. Was very interesting and informative. SIL is going to lend me the info as soon as he is done reading it. I'll pass it on to you when I finish with it if it appears usable.
