Here are some pictures for your viewing enjoyment and comments. All of these pictures were taken within a mile and a half of road in several different terrain/vegetation scenarios. The first 3 were taken within 20 yards of each other.

The next picture was about 3 feet away... deer or hog or...?

Finally, these were not more than 20 yards from the first 2 pictures. Around here, deer scat usually looks like Jelly Belly jelly bean size and shape. These bad boys are about the size of those big jelly beans that you only find at Easter time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Next are two pictures of the same... subject. One is closer so you can see the makeup of the... subject. What made this?

Fresh, huh? No keys were soiled during the taking of these pictures. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Finally, the last picture was taken not 10 yards from a similar looking pile as the 2 pics above. Coincidence or culprit? You be the judge. I would appreciate some input as to your opinions of what made these similar looking ... samples.

Deer, big deer in fact. Send GPS coordinates and I'll check out the area for more scat. Wouldn't want anybody stepping in it, ya know?

Usually the sign of an older deer whose digestive system processes things differently than a less mature animal.

Yes, WNYstalker, you won. I will wrap them up and send them to you... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I am looking forward to taking a few days sitting still in the areas where these were found and find out exactly what did make them. My long-time friend over this "region" in the Game and Fish Commission, who regularly patrols the areas where these came from said he could not be certain on the poop pictures. He guessed either a hog or a BIG mature deer. On the track, he didn't budge after stating it was a hog. Either way, I will be ready to pull the trigger (whether on my bow release or my gun). A buddy and I are doing some squirrel hunting in the area (all that is open presently) and toting (got that one from Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) a .22 magnum, so if we see a piggy, he/she is going down.
