Guys, I will have the cypress up and on my cabin by the end of August. Also should have electricity ran to it. Now I start the task of finishing out the inside. It's a 24x20 so any idea? Thanks Rick

Couple of idea
1. put up about 4 feet of rough saw and then go up the wall with 24" tin.
2. Finish out the whole thing in tongue and groove pine.
3. Try and find some 5/4 x 6 before its treated and use this.

Ricky--Can't beat tongue in groove pine for a backwoods cabin look, IMO!

We are planning our new house and I get a 'man cave' at the front of my garage for all of my testosterone laden stuff, and I am going to finish that area--about 12X30 with TIG pine!

Need pics when you are done!

Have fun!

I would hit it with the T&G or the 5/4x6 if it was mine. If the 5/4 was cheeper then I would probably use that with some black paper behind it so I couldn't see the insilation when it started to shrink and cracks open up.

Thanks guys and I would love to post pictures, but have no idea how to. It looks like I would have to go out to photo bucket or something.

I am leaning toward tongue and groove pine, but I have also seen 5/4 up and believe it or not, but it don't shrink or split in a controlled enviroment. I mean the inside of the cabin want see the sun or rain. I hope. Someone shoot me their email and i will email you some pictures to post of the cabin. Rick

Ricky,
Actually posting pics isn't too bad--if a 48 year old non-computer geek can do it, so can you!

I have also considered getting the siding that looks like log siding and doing that in my room--I think you can get it at Home Depot or Lowes. It looks pretty cool as well!

I refinished the whole inside of the camp last year. The walls are done with rough sawn pine sealed with satin polyurethane. I also put down a laminated floor to finish the job. It took a while, but it's well worth it. Please excuse the dust in the picture as I didn't clean the camera lense before I took the pictures. MI VHNTR

rickyb, thanks for the kind words. I have a few more pictures showing a bit more of the inside if you are interested. BTW, I use Photobucket to post pictures here. MI VHNTR

The last ranch house we did was cedar siding / metal roof with knotty pine walls and ceilings and alder cabinets. It is a little extreme for most ranch uses but it sure made a nice place.
