MP5 sounds about right but, hard to tell they are experts with all manner of firearms. I have seen them in training with M1a, M4's, SIG pistols, Colts, AK's etc. Not your standard military unit operators....the quiet service.
From the reported massive entry wound damage, that's a definite possibility.
Seriously? There's no way to know unless they release the info. SpecOps are pretty much allowed to choose their own weapons. H&K 9mm are reportedly pretty popular in that community, but it could just have easily been a .50 Beowulf.
In any case, KUDOS to the young man that pulled the trigger.

HAHA i wonder if the unit had a gung ho guy like jesse venturas character in predator, Using an overkill weapon on everything.

If you ever met one of these guys, you would probably call BS if someone in the room said "that guy is DEVGRU" (SEAL team six).
They are generally pretty unassuming guys, and while very fit, seldom body builder "muscle man" types. In personal conversation they are just "normal guys" and are very modest and self effacing.
There's not much of the Jesse Ventura "gung ho" BS among the real world class operators. They do the job without the attitude.
If I had been the guy standing face to face with him in the last instant, I think I would have preferred a good old M1 Garand with one of those long early World War II 16" bayonets fixed on its end. And I would have saved Uncle Sam the cost of a cartridge while working up a sweat.
Quote:I think I would have preferred a good old M1 Garand with one of those long early World War II 16" bayonets fixed on its end Having carried, shot, and maneuvered both in the past... An MP5 is much more versatile in close quarters, and almost as satisfying...
its pretty much m4s across the board in some variation. THey are like legos. Of course SOCOM has a much larger inventory than us common folk conventional forces. I do know they have played with 6.8s and piston m4s. The scar has been in the mix a bit. Mp5s are pretty much gone, replaced by m4 types with special application ammunition.
