What would be/is your dream long range custom rig?

Just as the title says, what is your dream rig? I am sure some of you here have already built your dream rig so feel free to post pictures and details. I'm just getting into this kind of thing and am curious what you guys like.

28 Nosler, throated .300 for 195g Berger(.755 G1, .387 G7), 26" X Caliber #6 taper, Gentry "quiet" muzzle break, Rem 700 BDL SS action, Boyds forest green laminate stock or Rem LSS laminate factory stock, 22 lines per inch checkering, stress free pillar bedding, re sprung Walker trigger to 1 1/2 lbs. Will shoot the 195's into tiny groups at 3050, and max vel of 3200 but primer pockets will not last but a couple of firings.

This "custom" rifle will NOT break the bank.

The 28 Nosler is the 6BR of the large calibers loaded with R#33.

My second long range rifle would be for shooting the 168g Berger VLD hunting at or near 3150 without blowing primer pockets, 7/300 Practical(300 Win mag necked down) and the 7mm Mashburn Super(300 Win mag mag necked down, shoulder pushed back with long neck) will do this in spades. 180's in both cases are in the 3000 fps area.

The above are hunting rifles, not target rifles or tactical rifles.

I and family have shot 7 STW's customs with zero freebore for many years, 120g Nosler at 3850, 140g C/T at 3650 and deer flop to 550 without exception. Just need more bullet weight to get out further, time for a new case that is available(300 Win Mag).

Dang, Keith! Think that would work for a 1,000 yard prairie dog gun?

28 Nosler/195 berger probably work for 1600 yards anything gun.

Long range is very, very different for any given person and the area that they hunt in. I just want to see an animal expire quickly, and this usually means speed with proper bullet placement.

I have good friend here that killed 6 Bull elk with a 257 Weatherby, factory ammo, 117g? before he had a guide tell him that it was not an elk rifle. He said the elk just flopped with the 257 WM. He changed to a 6.5/284 and the elk just kept running off, $1200 factory gun vs a $3200 custom gun, boy was he upset!

I'd like to have one of those rifles I've heard about in hunting camps my whole life that doesn't allow bullets to drop. They say you can just hold on hair all the way to 1,000 yards, lol. Sure would be nice!

375 Cheytac.

Stiller action
Bartlein barrel
Jewel trigger
Mcmillan A5
Vortex Razor Gen II

Shooting the 361gn Flatline bullet with 0.980 bc.

.....but just a pipe dream. Atleast until my kids go away. My 6mm Creedmoor on a Defiance action has been a lot of fun and have taken it to 1398 yards.

Wow Buster those are incredible. One day I hope to have the time/money to put together a long range rig. The problem is finding the land here in Western PA to shoot on. It looks like you have some beautiful country there in Kentucky.

What's this 300 WM of which you speak? I don't see any pics of a 300 WM to prove such a rifle exists.

Let's say, hypothetically speaking, I did have such a rifle, I'm sure that the stock would have to be painted before I would show such a rifle to the world.

Strictly hypothetical of course

Ok I'll play:

Surgeon 591 Action - 6.5 Creedmoor
Proof Carbon barrel 23" long
Insite Heathen Brake
Manner's Elite Tactical T4A
Surgeon bottom metal
Vortex Razor AMG scope

HA!!!!

My dream gun would do this at 1350 yards, but this not my dream rig.

This question is causing me high anxiety, and I feel like this an impossible question.
We should ban Kyle for such a question

Maybe........I could choose a dream rig for each discipline/style of hunting and shooting.

KyleWoods,
What type(s) of shooting/hunting would you be using your dream rig for?

My DT HTI w/ TS Customs 34" 375Cheytac and 34" 338Cheytac conversions. Tangent Theta TT525P, Elite Iron 375CT suppressor, LRA SC bipod, DT 34mm 40moa mount.

As xphunter pointed out however, it's hard to pick one. If I could pick one, I wouldn't have a dozen custom rifles.

If I were forced to pick the most practical, do-all, favorite type rifle... it would be my DT SRS-A1 with 30" custom 7LRM barrel.

It would be used for groundhog hunting, preferably long range groundhog hunting. I would also like to make it out west someday to shoot some prairie dogs, I've heard it's quite the experience.

Stop it! You are scaring me

Mine would be a 7mm too, IF I HAD to choose one all-around.
I have a a couple of LRM's, plus a handful or more of 7's.

What distances would you consider LR for Groundhogs and pd's?
