What's the best rated Jr Bow for the money?

Looking for a bow for my husband's little boy "B" - he's 10 - about 65lbs- kinda nerdy - my kids are grown and as they were growing up we mostly stuck to knives, handguns, rifles, and shotguns, so I have no idea how to go about getting a junior bow as in what to look for that is. A beginner's bow that's not to expensive - the broke side of the family's getting it for xmas.
He's all into electronics (ipad, xbox, WII, iphone, tablet, computers, you name it) so thought if I started with something we both could learn how to use then maybe I can get him away from that while I can. My husband is - believe it or not - a psychotherapist who wrote his thesis on child development and the boy's momma is a family practice doctor - need I say more?

Take a look at the Mission "Craze" by Mathews. It's draw length will adjust from 19 to 30 inches and poundage from 15 to 70. It's literally a bow that will fit him now all the way to adult.
Or maybe the "Genesis". It's a bow that is not draw length specific and the whole family can shoot. The Genesis is not capable of the performance that the Craze is but is still very fun to shoot.

Choice A. But not cheap.
Then again, if he takes a real liking to archery, you'd only have to upgrade if you initially started with something less. Learning with good equipment from the start makes learning more enjoyable.

I agree 100% crapshoot. Start them off with quality equipment, make sure it fits properly and the child has much better chance for success.
I've seen many beginners give up, thinking they were just not good at it when it was really that the bow just didn't fit them.

Price is not too bad on the Craze Around $300. I wish that bow would've been available when my kids were growing up. I could've saved a good chunk of money by only having to buy one bow for each of them.

Thanks a bunch will see if I can find a lower prize for the Craze. It goes a little over my budget but will see about getting it

Just remember that the bow is just the beginning. Then you have arrows, release, sight, rest, and the list goes on.

I looked at the Craze and I have been shooting matthews since their inception but I bought a Diamond Infinity which was alot more adjustable, lighter and smoother. Take a look at it. It is the perfect bow for the kids and has alot of room for growth. The package for rest, sight, quiver and bow was $349.00

I just picked up a Diamond Infinite Edge for my 17 y.o. daughter yesterday. Been looking for a while and think that its a great bow for the money. Adjustable from 13" to 30" & 5# to 70#, so it could be the last bow she needs, unless she wants to get into competition and target bows and becomes obsessed with the latest/greatest new thing (you guys know what I mean). I got it from a shop in town for $399, it's a package offer from Diamond that has the bow, rest, sight, quiver, and string loop. So with all that included it was a pretty good deal. She already has a release, arrows, and stabilizer since shes been shooting for a few years now. It's a great sport for the whole family, my 8 y.o. daughter shoots as well.

See if there is an archery club around your area, some clubs have youth bow that they let "prospective" archers use, or a lot of members have bows that their kids have "outgrown" that they may be willing to let you try so you can see if it sparks an interest as well as offer help to a beginner (a big plus in my book), if he has fun he"ll be more likely to stay involved with it, and its a lot more fun to hit what your aiming at than missing all the time.

Don't be scared of buying used, my daughter shot two "robin hoods" with her last bow. A used Browning Micro Midas that I bought off of a guy in our local club. Just have someone with some experience give it a look before you "pull the trigger".

Good luck and (hopefully) welcome to the world of archery.

Just my $.02, and its probably worth what you paid for it

that's the one my daughter will start with in a couple of years. I have a buddy who's daughter has one she's 11 and has been shooting hers for 3 years and she is deadly with it.

I'm not huge fan of Bowtech but the Diamond Edge is hands down the best youth bow for the money... It has a wide enough range of adjustment that anyone from a 10 year old to a grown man can shoot it.

hoyt ruckus!!!!!! i got it when i was that age and weight, fits perfectly you can change weight from 15 lbs to 50 lbs so it will serve as a good deer bow or any thing you want to use it 4 its also well priced around 300$ new GREAT DEAL
