What's your definition of LNIB?

So last night I'm cruising on Gun Broker and I really like the Ruger #1's, so I always take a look to see what's out there.
I find an individual who has three for sale, each one has a headline, "LNIB". Hmmmm..... LNIB......you got me interested.

I'm reading the description on the first one, he states there are dings in the stock as shown in the photos, but he opens up with it being LNIB. All three had issues, they all had dinged up stocks, but apparently he doesn't think that's a problem.

Where I come from LNIB means the bluing is 100%, the stock is flawless and its maybe had a box of shells through it.

What's your definition of LNIB

My notion of LNIB would be 100% flawless blueing and stock with hang tags and NO shells fired but everyone has their own thoughts. Lol

Yeah you properly right lol none the less it would not have dents or blueing wear.

My definition is that the rifle is used (fired) but otherwise functions and appears exactly as it did in its new, unfired state. No dings, dents, scratches, etc. Had it not been disclosed by the seller it would be nearly impossible to tell the rifle had ever been removed from the original box.

Anything less than that to me is not "like new".

Nope......He wants a premium price for a used rifle, I believe it was $1300 or so, hardly worth $700 to me.

Another gentleman a while back wanted $1800 for a Colt SP1 which he said was a safe queen, I think he put it in the safe after he accidently drug it down a gravel road behind his truck.

^^ this. other than being fired a bit and then cleaned afterward, anything beyond that no longer qualify's as LNIB.

Yep....that's exactly what it means...

I saw an ad recently for a Glock (forget which model), "Brand new in box"......followed by..."only two mags fired through this pistol"......HMMMMM......

I bought my Glock 17 Gen4 from a LGS as LNIB. If the lady behind the counter didn't tell me it had been fired, I would have never known the difference. You couldn't tell by looking at it that it had ever been out of the store. I even got it at a used price. She said the original owner fired one mag through it and brought it back saying he just wasn't a Glock guy. Bad for him, good for me. I like it!!

LNIB to me means used. If it's used, don't try to get new price for it. It kills me when I see a used scope and they say it's like new and they want like 50 bucks less than a new one. I can wait until they go on sale and get them cheaper than what they are asking! If I'm going to buy something used, It needs to be a used price, not new price. I don't care if it's LNIB, It's still used.

I would say the same no issues with the stock or blue, limited round count, everybody has there own little pet peaves as far as what they are wiling to live with.

The guns I`ve sold advertised as LNIB . New gun ,attach mount , a set of rings and scope .Took to range zero`ed scope.Clean, Put gun back in safe or on gun rack . Definitely zero blems anywhere .

Many sellers think their gun is gold, no matter what the condition. You are probably not going to move them too far off of their mind set. I would ask just about anyone if I could have a 3 day non firing inspection, which is normal for gunbroker deals.

Top dollar for a 90% gun as you describe is not a deal unless it is in an unusual caliber or model such as a 30/40 Craig or other rare models.

TO me, LNIB is the same as New with or without a box.
